Will Restylane under eyes be damaged by heat applied to that area?

Hello there,Thank you for your question.  There have been many studies that state lasers that introduce heat into the skin do not break down the product as well as most fillers including Restylane are heat-sterilized.  With that being said, there are providers who will use a last-toning 1064 Nd:YAG to smooth a "bump" after filler by making it more malleable.  Putting heat packs are for your health, which should always come before an elective procedure.  As long as you don't rub the area or massage it immediately after applying heat, there shouldn't be any change to your filler.  Hope this helps.All the best,Carlos Mata, MD, MBA, FACSBoard-Certified Plastic Surgeon

Restylane will not be affected by heat applied to the lower eyelids.  Restylane is very stable with the level of heat you are considering. 

I don't think you'll have any problems with gentle heat applied to the eyes.  I suppose in theory, this may very slightly accelerate the breakdown of Restylane, but the effect would be minimal.  I would follow your ophthalmologist's recommendations without concern.

Thank you for your question.  Cosmetic procedures that heat the deep layers of the skin, like Ultherapy, can accelerate the break down of filler products.  That said, I doubt that the heat from a heating pad applied for 10 or 20 minutes per day will have any dramatic impact on your Restylane.  Best of luck!
