I had been researching treatments for acne scarring for years. I had cystic acne scars (significant rolling scars on my cheeks) for over two decades- they were a source of embarrassment for a long time. Now in my 40’s, I started noticing that my collagen was decreasing and making my scarring more noticeable- and it was even more prominent when I smiled. I did NOT want to feel self-conscious about smiling, it’s an act of joy! So I decided to look into it again (I had been too busy w/my young kids to prioritize it for years). Dr. Taylor had such a great record so I went to see him for a consult. He was so kind and helpful! I eventually scheduled once I had some significant time off work. He assured me he had a lot of patients with young kids and it could be done! I was hoping for 60-70% improvement- I was surprised with closer to 90%! And it stimulated my collagen on top of it all! Now I smile and have no self-consciousness about my scarring- and the combined lasers for acne scar resurfacing w/the subcision helped eliminate my sun damage too! So grateful to Dr. Taylor and his team!

I went to Dr. Taylor to get my acne scars treated. I have had two treatments before from other doctors and have seen some good improvement in the past and wanted to see if I could improve my acne scarring appearance even further. I Asian skin, and have mostly rolling scars across my cheeks and temples and did a lot of research on what course of treatment would be best. Subcision are best for rolling and Dr. Taylor does a combination of treatments which consist of chemical peels, subcision and lasers to tackle the scars. I'm still in the healing phase 1 week after treatment, but I would say I'm seeing a close to 70%-90% improvement so far. Still a bit red and know that it takes time to heal but really excited to have these results once they fully heal.

I had Dr. Taylor's signature scar removal treatment and would highly recommend it. Dr. Taylor has mastered this technique. My scars are 90% better. Its almost unbelievable! I had so many scars my cheeks were being restricted when I smiled. I have my smile back! The staff were awesome. Everyone was very helpful and understanding. After the procedure its a little shocking because your face is bloody and covered in gel after the laser. But within a week I was almost peeled with beautifully soft baby pink skin. I actually cried because I had been so hopeless about my face and all of a sudden was seeing myself again. If you have acne scars you know what I mean. I have nothing but gratitude for Dr. Taylor and the time he has taken in his life to perfect this procedure and help so many. I've definitely found a doctor who truly knows skin and will go back if I ever need any other procedures. Subcision, tca peel, and laser. 1.5 years later I still having amazing skin and have done nothing else but take spironolactone and use Allastin skin nectar regularly. This procedure boosted my confidence a thousand fold and helped my depression so much. Life changing!!

I’m a dermatologist myself that traveled to Utah because Dr. Taylor does procedures that other dermatologists can not replicate. He’s a maverick in his field. He’s also very kind and listens to your concerns in detail. I had laser treatment of scars, laser hair removal, and fillers done on my cheeks and lips. Very happy with results. Also, when he performed the filler injections, he used an injection technique that barely hurt. My pain was only a 2 out of 10 the whole time. Overall, very pleasant experience and I would fly back to see him.

I received the acne scar treatment from Dr Taylor almost 2 years ago. I have very horrible deep acne scars on my face, like more than 50 deep holes and with large area of uneven skin. Before finding Dr Taylor I have spent a couple thousand dollars with another doctor in LA performing CO2 laser twice, but they only improved my scar probably 5%. I am very disappointed for sure, I am not saying the CO2 is not useful, what I mean is that if you have severe and deep scar, THAT ALONE WON'T SAVE U... And of course you will need to be prepared , take pills for face oil control one month before the surgery, get the healing gel for after procedure heeling process. Sorry I don't remember the names accurately, but Dr Taylor and his co-workers are friendly and helpful, they will guide you through the process. So on that day Dr Taylor performed Laser, subcision and deep scar sealing, so you know it's a huge project, only this can be effective for those deep scars. After the procedures my face looked like a mess for sure, and with a lot of strings on my face for sealing the deep scar, but I would say you will not feel much pain for this process, at least it's acceptable to me. After that it will be a consecutive 2 days follow up, and they will make sure you are on the right track of recovering process. The first day will be a bit hard because it's bleeding on the face blended with the healing gel and you need to wait for a day to wash the face. Thus I would suggest not doing the procedure during the summer time. And on the second day you can start washing the face very gently and apply thick heeling gel after that. Heeling gel will stay with you probably 2 weeks to make sure the skin is heeling fast. My skin is recovering fast and after a week they helped me to get rid of the strings, but of course I still need to continue with the healing gel. After 2 weeks I can see wounds are all healed but still very red. The redness will stay with you probably for 3 months or more, depend on the healing process, so be aware of that. And also during this period you need to strictly avoid sunlight and radiation, that's very important. After 3 months probably my redness is all gone, and I am satisfied with the result. I get rid of huge number of deep holes and my skin gets better like 30-40%. Someone might be disappointed with this result but I would say if you imagine your horrible skin can be flawless in one procedure, that's not possible. I know how much effort Dr Taylor has put for me on this procedure, I really appreciate that, and I think this is the best result I can get. Thank you Dr Taylor!

Dr. Mark Taylor and his team are amazing and I put my full trust in their hands. He’s extremely passionate about carefully assessing, not only each patient’s unique face, but each unique scar to provide an optimal treatment solution. I have lived with acne scars for over 25 years and have tried some pretty harsh treatments – including full face dermabrasion (literally cutting my face off) only to be disappointed and worse off by an inexperienced plastic surgeon (this was pre-realself.com). However, Dr. Taylor is not only a leader of the latest treatments and research for acne scarring, he is a trailblazer. About 3 years ago (I thought I had written a post about his, but now realized it hadn’t posted), Dr. Taylor performed subcision, fraxel laser, PRP (using my own blood) and chemical peel (just to the unlasered areas) to my full face. Dr. Taylor was also undergoing a clinical trial for stem-cell therapy and applied it to half my face to compare the recovery and results. My results were astounding. It was the first time in my life that I had hope of improving the deep acne scars on my face. This procedure improved the scarring by about 85% (everyone will be different). The recovery time was a lot quicker than I thought it would be after seeing my face the first day. It looked like I was in a bad car accident, but by the next morning, the swelling had reduced greatly! I have a series of photos documenting the recovery time and improvements that I am happy to share. Now, two days ago, I went in for a “refresh” and had a full-face Sky Walker laser procedure. Although I am only two days in, I can say that I am optimistic for an even greater improvement. After the procedure, I was very red and minor bleeding. The first night, my skin was itchy due to either the ointment or polysporin, but I was able to use an anti-itch ointment that helped the next day. I have very sensitive skin, so I tend to break out with little whiteheads from the ointment, but it goes away pretty quickly – especially when using the Omnilux Clear-U light (red & blue light) handheld device that I was able to purchase from Dr. Taylor’s Apothica shop located within his facility. They have all the best products needed on site which I LOVE and find so convenient. I will continue to document this procedure as well. Dr. Taylor is committed to helping me along this painful journey and has achieved such a great improvement to my acne scarring. Family and friends have taken notice and cannot believe the difference in my skin. I confidently leave the house without wearing makeup and have become more comfortable talking about the devastating effects to the skin caused by acne and poor treatments by inexperienced surgeons. I will only see and refer Dr. Taylor for any skin-related procedures. Updated on 2 Feb 2021: I've received image requests and are unable to send in messaging, so I've attached it to my review! These images are days 3-9 after the subcision, laser, prp, stem cells (on one side) and chemical peel on the nose. Updated on 2 Feb 2021: These images were from before/after the acne scar treatment with Dr. Taylor. The before images were "improved skin" after a series of e-matrix, spot treatment subcision and other non-invasive treatments. The after, I was wearing light mineral foundation, but you can see the major difference! My skin continued to improve since then. My scarring was much worse than these before pictures.

I recently had an upper eyelid bleph performed by Dr. Mark Taylor. The results exceeded my expectations, and I am so pleased. It looks so natural and I have had several people, who knew I was having this done, compliment me each time I see them. They are blown away by the results as well. I feel I look younger and refreshed. I can put mascara on now without it smudging on my eyelids, and you can see my lashes! I have had lots of people compliment me on my lashes. They could not see them before because my eyelids rested on top of them. Each time I see my eyes in the mirror, I am really blown away at how great they look. Dr. Taylor was so kind and he and his staff made me comfortable right from the beginning. During the procedure, Dr. Taylor explained everything they were doing and again, put me right at ease. I trusted him right from the start. I also appreciated him letting me talk his ear off while I was a little out of it. :) I tend to do that on local anesthetics. Dr Taylor is a pro! He knows what works and what doesn't. I have seen him on several occasions and he always takes time to listen and then informs and teaches. The procedures he has done for me have all been very successful. I highly recommend him to anyone considering cosmetic procedures.

For 6 years I have been very insecure about my acne scars. I struggled to fight my insecurities only to find myself searching for better makeup, topical ointments, and regiments to improve the appearance of my scars so I could finally feel comfortable in my own skin. I went on Accutane twice, which finally resolved my breakout problem; yet, I still didn’t feel confident. I have consulted with numerous dermatologists and skin care professionals, but have never had an experience so substantial like the one I had at the Gateway Aesthetic Institute with Dr. Taylor. It is staffed with friendly, professional, and experienced people who all try their best to assure your experience will be unlike the rest. The facility has a great atmosphere that provides a comfortable and refined setting. The facility is also combined with the store Apothica, which is stocked with amazing skin care products at reasonable and affordable prices. It’s also great for when you have a procedure coming up, you can just buy everything you need from there! This feature of the facility adds to the stress-free experience when you have a procedure. When meeting with Dr. Taylor, he examined my scars and provided me with detailed feedback on what would be the most effective solution. He explained the procedure and showed me pictures of previous patients to see expected results. We scheduled the appointment and I was ready to go! Pre-op, they went over detailed instructions regarding how much down-time you will need, what to expect, etc. I definitely felt very prepared after going over all of the information! Procedure day was very stress-free, I was escorted to the operation room where I was advised to take the prescribed pain killers, had numbing cream applied, and was assisted to lay down on a comfortable bed where I was able to relax and let everything take effect for about 30 minutes before the procedure started. The procedure itself was rather uncomfortable, as expected since it was a laser treatment, but it was tolerable. The procedure took about 1.5-2 hours but I felt like it flew by. Recovery and down time was super relaxing, since you are advised to just keep off your feet and let the healing process take effect. I was able to communicate with Dr. Taylor via text if I had any questions, and I definitely. He was incredibly polite and timely about his responses and provided me with the reassurance I need as far as my recovery went. It’s been about a month since the procedure and I COULDN’T BE HAPPIER, with my results and the whole experience itself. I would recommend, and have recommended, Dr. Taylor to anyone who is facing struggles with acne scars or any other concerns that he can treat.
