How can I bring down my WBC numbers to avoid postponing my surgery date?

A white blood count of 25 is extremely high and requires further work-up. I am assuming your medical clearance was performed by your primary care physician. I would return to him/her to determine the cause of your increased white blood count.

What I recommend you is to consult with your plastic surgeon. He will give you the best advice as his patient. I would suggest to be treated by board certified plastic surgeon with experience in this procedure, to get the best desired results.

every plastic surgeon has his own preoperative protocol which he recommends to his patients. You should be healthy prior to any elective procedure. I would suggest you to discuss this with your plastic surgeon.

I think the most important thing right now is to try and find out why your WBC is so high. You should repeat the test first, as sometimes there can be lab error. If in fact your WBC is really that high then you need to go see your PCP and try to figure out why the number is elevated.

You are really not understanding the significance of that HIGH of a WBC count! It indicates severe infection in your body or a blood disease.... You should be CANCELLED until you obtain a written hematology clearance. The one other possible reason for this very high WBC is laboratory error. Maybe repeat the WBC to verify it is so very high. If it is even higher, please go to the ER this is a very serious medical emergency.

And increased white blood cell count typically means your immune system has been activated by something like an infection or inflammation. that may cause a white blood cell count of 13 or 15 or maybe 17. Your blood count of 25 could potentially mean something very serious and needs to be evaluated sooner rather than later. This is far more important than your cosmetic surgery.If you have a primary care doctor then contact that person and share with them with your blood test results were. They need to order different tests and most likely you’ll need a full worked up for this.Do not ignore this is something you simply need to make go away so you can have cosmetic surgery.Please take this seriously and contact an internal medicine physician to start to work up.Best,Mats Hagstrom MD

Hi and welcome to our forum!As a normal white blood cell count is between 4500-11000 WBC's per microliter, I don't know how to interpret 25 (25000?).If your count is abnormal, a medical evaluation is required to determine the cause, as your white blood cells provide you with immunity and protection from infection. Elevation suggests infection or malignancy. Surgery cannot proceed until the source of the elevation is identified and treated.Best wishes...
