Already thin, looking for "skinny fat" solution for my stomach! Results I can expect from laser or smart lipo? (photos)

Question

I'm 5' 4" 113 lbs, 25 years old and have always had a lower belly pooch resulting in a skin crease just above my belly button and have never been able to achieve a tight, flat/toned look despite being very active and otherwise lean. I want to get laser lipo, hoping to even and flatten out the upper/lower abs, but want to have realistic expectations. I'm also a little worried my lower belly skin will sag post lipo since it is not taut to begin with...thoughts on results I can expect?

Young skin that is not too stretched out will retract nicely with liposculpture. Nothing should sag in your situation.

I routinely perform Smartlipo, and I think that you are an excellent candidate for this procedure. I perform this in the office under local anesthesia. I think that the laser enhances the skin tightening effect of traditional liposuction, and therefore would decrease your risk of loose skin post-operatively.  Good luck!

Smart Lipo or Vaser liposuction works best on stubborn fat that is resistant to diet and exercise.  They also give skin tightening.A consultation and exam with a plastic surgeon is recommended.

If you do  not have  significant fat, then liposuction will not help you, and it will not significantly help your skin tone in any significant way, no matter which technique is used.

If you have good thick skin elasticity in the area and the area is just fat then SmartLipo should definitely address the problem. See a board certified plastic with an expertise in body contouring in your area for a detailed consultation. They should be able to answer your concerns more specifically. In my practice in the San Francisco Bay Area I have come to the conclusion that the happiest patients are those that have realistic expectation on what a procedure will and won’t do for them. A very sophisticated question. You are wise enough to appreciate that a large portion of what you're not happy with is skin tone. If in your consultations if you do choose to go with liposuction, even using the laser, a suggestion would be to keep it on the conservative side and not expect a dramatic improvement. It's important to leave enough fat beneath the skin to avoid wrinkling now and especially in the future. Good luck in your interview process.
