I had Smartlipo 5 days ago on upper arms/armpit fat. My doctor removed about 200ccs total fat (just fat not red liquid) combined. I am badly bruised and my arms are very swollen and burning slightly. I realize it takes 3 months or more to see results and I was very clear on what I was trying to achieve before having the procedure (better shape, significant reduction in circumference). Still, I am concerned he did not remove enough fat. I'm 5'7" 160lb and my arms were 14 1/4 inches.

I rarely get that much bruising but its possible to have a significant amount. Also, you seem to have way more than 200 cc of fat to be removed, but again, this all depends on what type of procedure was done. I suggest seeing a well trained hi definition contouring expert.  Best, Dr. Emer.

200cc of pure fat is an amount that would improve the appearance of a small arm. You have medium sized arms. I would expect to remove at least twice that amount from each arm to achieve an acceptable result. However, photos taken 4-6 weeks after surgery would be more accurate in the assessment of a final appearance once all of the swelling and bruising resolve. The patient on the link below had 300cc removed from each arm and she is 5'5" and 130lbs.

Thank you for your pictures.  The bruising is normal and can occur.  200 cc is not enough to see a huge difference in my opinion.  Your loose skin will minimize your results as well.

It's better to wait the three or four months first before you assess your results. You will experience some bruising and swelling which will resolve with time.

Everyone bruises and heals differently. You appear to have loose arms to begin with, they will likely stay loose or even looser after you have healed.
