Answer: Body piercings are loaded with bacteria and should be removed prior to lipo While it's unlikely that bacteria from the breast would directly invade the surgical field from an abdominal lipo, it is not impossible. You should do everything in your power to reduce the risk of infection including removing all body piercings.

Answer: Nipple Piercing and Liposuction I do not remove my patients piercings and have had no issues with liposuction on patients who have piercings. Unless they are specifically in the treatment area and going to block or interfere with the surgery. Best, Dr. Emer.

For example, is the liposuction is done on the neck and chin, the person would not have to remove the piercing from the nipples.SmartLipo DOES NOT USE ELECTRIC CURRENT through the body.Please review this with your doctor.

Answer: Liposuction and jewelry I recommend removing all jewelry prior to surgery for many reasons. However if your nipple ring is difficult to remove there shouldn't be any problems as it is away from the area of your abdominal liposuction.
