Fillers are great for augmenting the lip, but they will not "lift" the lip in the same capacity as a lip lift. In fact, the use of fillers can sometimes exaggerate a long upper lip and give the appearance of duck lips.If the space above your upper lift is too long and you inject fillers, the filler will push the lip out instead of up. You can get a good idea if you measure the distance between your upper lip and the bottom of the nose. If that distance is longer than 1.1 cm, or if you can’t see the upper teeth with the mouth slightly open at rest, you would benefit more from a lip lift than fillers.Be sure to consult with a board certified plastic surgeon who can help you determine what would yield the best results based on your specifics and your goals.Best wishes!
Thank you for your question. Most women who augment their lips do so with injectable fillers, which are repeated about once a year or even more often. Although lip augmentation is an ideal procedure for adding volume to thin lips, it is not permanent. I suggest that you move forward and consult with a board certified facial plastic surgeon.Best wishes,
Dear aguidi94~Thanks for sharing your photo. Lip fillers will give you a fuller upper red lip with some eversion of the lip (turned-out appearance). This may decrease the "apparent" length of the upper lip and make the upper lip seem less long by highlighting other areas, but it will not change the actual distance. The lip lift surgery increases the amount of red lip show, and also decreases the distance between the nose and lips. If you are primarily interested in increasing the size of the upper red lip, fillers are a good initial option for you. A lip lift can always be done later if the upper lip length is still bothersome to you after having fillers.Best wishes,Amy Hsu
I'm afraid that lip lifts do something different. A lip filler will increase the roll of the lip, but not raise the lip. It will make the lip larger if that's your goal.. However, you are right that your upper lip is somewhat long. A lip lift will make your upper lip larger and create a more beautiful and feminine mouth. I do these 5-7 times each week and the results are wonderful!
