I have an inverted T open after Breast lift. Any suggestions? (photos)

Question

my incisions split 4 days ago, I'm now 15 days PO after a full anchor lift with sub-muscular silicone implants. The hole is getting bigger. There is no pain (just stinging when washed), no redness, and the drainage doesn't smell bad. My Dr keeps assuring me it's common, and it will heal to just keep it clean and covered, but it's getting worse. I'm concerned and want to make sure I'm Taking care of this right. How long will it take to see improvement?

This area is the most common to have wound separation as it hold a lot of tension. I recommended conitnuing to follow your sugreons directions.

Thank you for your question and I'm sorry to hear of the problems you have been common.The T junction area is the most common site of wound breakdown issues following any sort of breast lifting procedure (which is why I avoid performing them whenever I can). They usually heal with simple dressings and without too much fuss. The big issue in your case is the presence of breast implants. You are at risk of implant infection/exposure. Your surgeon will know what soft tissue coverage remains over the implant and you need to be closely monitored.I hope it all work out ok.

I don't think it is possible or appropriate to recommend a treatment plan without an exam. The drainage should be cultured and you have not indicated whether antibiotics have been prescribed.  The concern would be for exposure of the implants. Continue to follow up with your surgeon. Best wishes.

The truth is that in this area where three 'things' come together some slight breakdown of the the skin is common.  However breakdown that is deeper than just the skin here is not ok and, if deep enough, can risk exposure of your implant.  It's hard to fully answer your question without either a much better photo or to actually see you.  This is something your doctor should be following you closely for.
