(Ultimately a Q for a GYN, but I thought you’d have good perspective as plastic surgeons.) The other day I noticed that, for the first time since puberty, my breasts weren’t terribly tender. With the tenderness gone they’ve gone from D to C, and symmetry’s suddenly restored. They’re sagging now, sadly, and I’m planning a lift. I’m 35 and’ve just had a partial hysterectomy — is it possible this “deflation” is from decreased estrogen? Ovaries were spared but perhaps my hormones have gone haywire?
Answer: My breasts have deflated and are sagging. The deflation of the breasts does happen and it’s most often after child birth and breast feeding. Depending the size of the breast that you desire, you could have a breast lift or an augmentation lift combination. You need to be seen to determine what would be the most appropriate for you.the best lift procedure is the one that gives a lollipop shape scar, but depending on your present shape other methods with less visible scars could be feasible.

Answer: Breasts suddenly deflated. Should I get a lift? Hello. Great question. Based on your question, it appears you have droopy breasts not deflated. However, it is difficult to properly evaluate your concerns without images and/or a personal examination. Please visit a board certified plastic surgeon for a detailed surgical plan to achieve your desired results.

Answer: Breast Lift Surgery / Mastopexy -- Breast Mound Repositioning, Nipple & Areola Relocation, Excess Skin Removal, Fat Grafting, Br You need a formal evaluation by a licensed plastic surgeon and expert in breast lifts, revisions and augmentations to determine what is best for you and your goals. Breast lift surgery can improve a woman's breast shape by repositioning the breast mound at a higher position on the chest and then centering the nipple and areola on the breast itself. If there is enough breast tissue, I can perform a highly aesthetic mastopexy without the addition of further volume by internally rearranging the breast tissue and removing excess skin. If more volume is needed, especially in the upper portion of the breasts, we will discuss the possibility of fat grafting or silicone gel implant placement. The type of incision required for this surgery (circumareolar, “lollipop” or “anchor”) and the lifespan of the lift depends on each patient’s condition, breast tissue, genetics, weight and hormonal fluctuations, and desired results. Augmentation with mastopexy is a challenging surgery that requires significant experience to create a shape that is youthful, natural, and proportionate to the body, while managing the native tissue as well as fat grafts or implants. When performed properly, it can result in a dramatic improvement to a woman’s breast appearance. I suggest consulting with a board-certified plastic surgeon and expert in Breast Lifts. - Dr. Cohen

Answer: Breasts suddenly deflated. Should I get a lift? Thank you for the question. There may be many reasons why women experience a change in breast size and/or position ("sagging"). A change in hormones certainly can be one of these reasons. Whether or not to undergo breast lifting (plus/minus augmentation) will ultimately be a very personal decision that only you can make after careful consideration of the pros/cons associated with each option. My best advice: if/when the time is right select your plastic surgeon carefully. Make sure that he/she has significant experience achieving the types of outcomes you will be pleased with. Then, communicate your goals carefully, as well. I find that the use of goal photographs and computer imaging are very helpful during this communication phase. Working together you will come up with a good plan to achieve your goals. Best wishes.
