How soon after open rhino can minor rasping be performed? Procedure was done 2 months ago and a minor bump has appeared which is is hard and not swelling. At my first 1 month post op, the dr suggested that I allow the swelling to come down which I did but now I'm 2 months. First off, could rasping help to address this issue and is it possible to perform this with success at my 2 month post op? If so, what is the recovery like? I have attached pictures to help. Thank you.
Answer: Dorsal fullness post rhinoplasty Generally patients are advised to avoid secondary surgery until one year after the primary rhinoplasty. Your pictures Indicate a dorsal fullness which is likely cartilaginous and maybe a little bone. Secondary surgery may involve rasping and dorsal cartilage reduction.

Answer: How soon after rhonoplasty can a residual bump be rasped down? in general revisions of the tip or any procedure where the nose has to be opened up should wait a year. however rasping a hump can be done through a small incision inside the nose without any effect on the tip and could be considered as early as 8 months after surgery. it is a minor procedure that I do in the office with local anesthesia and light sedation. I have also seen small humps improve for at least 6 months.

Answer: How soon after an open rhinoplasty can I have a minor rasping revision performed? At only 2 months postop from rhinoplasty, you are still very early in your recovery with a tremendous amount of swelling in your nose. The swelling will resolve in a progressive fashion over months in the direction of gravity: the upper third will resolve in about 3 months, the middle third in about 6 months, and the tip in 9 - 12 months. In general, it takes a full year to see the final result. It is too early to judge the appearance at this point, as swelling likely is a big component of what you see. The skin has memory from before your hump was removed and requires time to shrink down as the swelling resolves. If the hump is structural in nature, it likely is too low on the bridge of the nose to be the nasal bones and would more likely be the cartilage portion of a hump. If a revision is required, it would be best to wait until you are 1 year postop. In the meantime, I would recommend following up with your rhinoplasty surgeon to discuss any concerns you may have throughout the healing process. Only he/she will know exactly what was done during your operation. Good communication between patient and surgeon both before and after surgery is very important. Best of luck in your recovery! Answer: Rasping a bump after #rhinoplasty The residual bump is cartilage and not bone. Rasps are for removing bone and will not improve your bump. It will require sharply cutting and removing the portion of the septum causing this bump. It is best to wait a full 12 months before pursuing revision.

Answer: How soon after open rhinoplasty can I have a minor rasping revision performed? It's probably best to wait at least 10 to 12 months to allow full healing to occur before embarking on another procedure. It's also important to allow all the swelling to come down and address whatever minor asymmetries that are present at that time
