Is 500cc lipo removal from each thigh a lot? 5'6", 135 lbs

Question

I am 4 weeks post op from thigh lipo, and all of my jeans fit the same as they did before surgery, just as tight in the thighs. The bruising just now has went away, and I'm still wearing my garment. My Q: do thighs usually swell more than other areas treated by lipo? I know I should be seeing some results by now, so I am starting to become concerned. Dr. said he removed a total of 1 liter from legs, but maybe it was mostly tumescent fluid that he was counting.

Anna. I appreciate your concern, but it is still quite early in your postoperative recovery, and there is most certainly residual swelling present. It does take a bit longer for swelling to resolve in the legs because edema tends to travel down hill. Try to stay patient and follow up with your plastic surgeon. Best of luck.

Liposuction takes a good 6-8 months to fully appreciate the results. The majority of the swelling will take 3-5 months to subside. Of course the amount removed and the location as well as the stature of the person will affect the appearance of the result. However with your height and weight 500 cc is from each side should result in a demonstrable improvement. Of course discuss with your plastic surgeon as he and she know you the best.

Every patient is different and some need more fat removal than others. I have taken as little as 50 cc out of each leg and as much as 2 liters. It depends upon many factors.

I understand your concern , but please be patient as you are only four weeks into your postoperative period and further improvement in likely over the next 8-12 weeks. At minimum ,once healing is completed your clothes will fit you better .
Follow up closely with your surgeon .
