I had a rhinoplasty ~ 6 years ago (partly for breathing /deviated septum and partly for aesthetics.) The Dr. told me I should only get the turbinoplasty (no septoplasty). Since then, my nose has been getting progressivly more crooked. It looks as if one side collapsed. Inside, you can feel the cartage is very crooked and misshaped. When I went back to the Dr to discuss this, he said it happened because of my face is asymmetrical. Is this true? What can cause this to happen and how do you fix it?
Answer: Revision Rhinoplasty Hi @hellonyc! I recommend seeing an expert revision rhinoplasty specialist for an in person examination. There are several options for you that can be determined after examination. Best of luck, Dr. Nima.

Answer: Changes after rhinoplasty It is true that everyone has some degree of asymmetry to their face, and you can not expect both sides to be perfectly symmetrical. I do agree with you though, the one side does seem collapsed compared to the other. You may need structural support with a cartilage graft. I recommend consulting with a board certified plastic surgeon who specializes in rhinoplasty revision surgery to discuss your concerns and aesthetic goals.

Answer: Why is nose getting more crooked 6 years after rhinoplasty: how to fix? Cartilage has a memory and the healing process is exerts forces on the nose. Although the septum may not have been causing nasal obstruction the increasing appearance of asymmetry can be due to a combination of healing, underlying curvature of the septum, and some memory of the cartilage. A revision should help substantially although it is mot possible to guarantee a perfectly straight nose. Part of the would be to doa complete septoplasty and do everything possible to break the memory of the current alignment. When choosing a surgeon ask to seem before and after pictures of crooked noses that the surgeon has corrected. The surgery to correct a crooked nose can be quite challenging.

Answer: Revision rhinoplasty is more predictable if you haven't had prior septoplasty... Based on your before photo, you had a slight indentation along your left bridge that may be more apparent after your surgery. Since you have thin skin, there is a "shrink-wrapping" that may occur over time as your nose heals, so this crookedness likely progressed slowly. Without knowing what was done during your surgery, it's not clear why this happened. If this is bothering you, you may benefit from revision surgery with reconstruction of your left nasal sidewall, likely with a spreader graft. This may lead to improved breathing on your left, depending on your examination. Hope this helps you. Dr Joseph

Answer: Crooked noses can go with crooked faces but it still can be made straigher Getting crooked noses straight is one of the most challenging aspects of rhinoplasty. Sometimes noses don't get straighter after rhinoplasty and weakening the structures might make it worse. You can't always predict who this might happen to. Revision rhinoplasty can help a lot with this situation. However, it is a more complex procedure. You should seek out a revision rhinoplasty specialist to discuss how to get your nose straighter.
