I’m 21 years old and just recently had a consultation with a cosmetic surgeon. I was told that I would not benefit from chin lipo, and that instead, I should consider EMFace for my chin area. Would I get better results from chin lipo?
Answer: Emface no. Chin implant and lipo or necktite - yes You have a recessed chin. That is creating a lack of support and hanging neck skin. You should have your chin enhanced and the neck fat addressed. That can be with a neck lift (deep tissue treatment - used for young people like you) or liposuction (with our without energy). This is all doable in the office at my center, though you could opt for general anesthesia if you prefer.

Answer: Chin Lipo vs Chin Implant In your case the small chin is effecting the profile more than the fat under the chin. The combination of Kybella and a chin implant is the best option. Regards Dr. Janjua

Answer: Is Chin Lipo Right for Me—or Is There a Better Option? Dear Ubiquitous, Thank you for your photos and your question. At first glance, it’s understandable why you might be interested in chin lipo—especially if you're concerned about the fullness under your chin. But based on your profile and anatomy, liposuction alone may not give you the result you're truly looking for. From your side views, it appears you have a mild to moderate lower jaw (mandibular) deficiency—meaning your jaw and chin sit further back than ideal for facial balance. When that happens, even a small amount of submental fat (under the chin) can look more pronounced than it really is. That’s likely why your surgeon suggested EMFace, which is non-invasive but may only provide very limited improvement in your case. What Would Actually Work Better In a perfect world, the most powerful transformation would come from jaw surgery (bilateral sagittal split osteotomy) to bring the lower jaw forward. But if that feels too aggressive or not aligned with your goals, a sliding genioplasty (chin advancement surgery) can significantly improve both your neck and jawline definition, without changing your bite. This procedure would: Bring your chin forward to better match your nose and forehead Make your neck angle appear sharper—even without removing fat Improve overall facial balance and profile If volume reduction is still needed after that, a small amount of chin or neck lipo can be done as a finishing touch. Summary Chin lipo alone likely won't address the root issue—which is your bone structure, not just fat. A sliding genioplasty would likely give you a much more dramatic and natural-looking improvement than lipo or EMFace. You’re young and healthy—an ideal candidate to consider surgical correction now, for results that can last a lifetime. If you haven’t yet, I’d recommend consulting with a board-certified facial plastic surgeon or oral & maxillofacial surgeon who specializes in jaw and chin surgery. You'll want a full facial analysis to see which option best matches your goals. Warmly, Earl Stephenson, Jr, MD, DDS, MBA ESJ Aesthetics – “Where Confidence Takes Shape!”

Answer: Assessing Candidacy for Chin Liposuction: Factors and Alternatives When considering cosmetic procedures like chin liposuction (lipo) or EMFace, it's important to understand the differences between these treatments and how they align with your aesthetic goals. Chin Liposuction: Purpose: Chin lipo is designed to remove excess fat from the chin and neck area, which can help define the jawline and reduce the appearance of a double chin. Best Candidates: Ideal candidates typically have good skin elasticity, as the skin needs to contract after the fat is removed to achieve a smooth contour. Considerations: If your cosmetic surgeon advised against chin lipo, it might be due to factors such as skin elasticity, the amount of fat present, or other anatomical considerations. EMFace: Purpose: EMFace is a non-invasive treatment that uses electromagnetic stimulation to tone and lift facial muscles, potentially improving skin tightness and facial contours. Best Candidates: This treatment is often recommended for individuals looking to enhance muscle tone and skin firmness without surgery. Factors to Consider: Skin Elasticity: If your skin lacks elasticity, chin lipo might not provide the desired results, as the skin may not tighten adequately after fat removal. Desired Outcome: Consider whether your primary concern is excess fat or skin laxity. EMFace might be more suitable if skin tightening is a priority. Professional Advice: Trusting the expertise of your cosmetic surgeon is crucial, as they can assess your anatomy and recommend the most appropriate treatment. Ultimately, the best approach depends on your specific anatomy and aesthetic goals. If you have concerns about the recommendation, seeking a second opinion from another qualified cosmetic surgeon could provide additional insights.

Answer: Facial Harmony and Balance Hi there, Thanks for sharing your photos and question. You have a very balanced facial profile, and I understand your desire for more definition in the chin and jawline area. Based on your images, chin liposuction alone may not yield significant improvement, as it appears that the soft tissue volume under your chin is minimal. That may be why your previous consultation recommended EMFace — which can help tone underlying muscles but won’t change structural proportions. In your case, you have three main options to enhance the lower third of your face: 1. Chin Filler – A temporary, non-surgical solution to add projection to the chin. It’s a great way to preview the effect of a more defined chin and see if you like the aesthetic change before committing to surgery. 2. Chin Implant – A permanent option that provides stronger definition and better long-term balance to your profile. This would slightly project the chin forward and improve the harmony between your lower face and neck. 3. Mandibular Advancement Surgery (Orthognathic Surgery) – This is a more advanced option typically reserved for cases with functional bite misalignment or significant skeletal discrepancy. It’s only indicated if you’re experiencing bite issues or jaw dysfunction, which doesn’t seem to be the case here. If you’re mainly concerned about facial harmony and chin projection, then chin filler or a small chin implant would likely provide the best cosmetic improvement — far more effectively than liposuction in your case.
