Answer: Evaluating Candidacy for Chin Liposuction Thank you for your inquiry regarding chin liposuction. Based on the information you've provided, you may indeed be a candidate for chin liposuction, especially if this area has been a persistent concern despite weight loss efforts. Chin liposuction is often most effective for individuals who have good skin elasticity, as this allows the skin to contract smoothly following fat removal. At 29 years old, you are likely to have sufficient skin elasticity, which is promising for achieving a satisfying outcome. Additionally, since you have expressed a desire to maintain the volume of your cheeks and are not interested in other facial procedures, chin liposuction could be a focused approach to address your specific concerns. A thorough evaluation by a qualified cosmetic surgeon would be necessary to confirm suitability for the procedure. They can assess the specific characteristics of your chin area, discuss your aesthetic goals, and determine the most appropriate treatment plan. If you have further questions or need more detailed guidance, please feel free to reach out.

Answer: You may indeed be a good candidate for neck liposuction surgery. Based on your photos, you appear to have excessive fat in the area underneath your chin, and this is producing a double chin appearance, and a poorly defined jawline. We always advocate that our patients achieve a healthy body composition before considering liposuction surgery, since weight loss may cause an improvement in the appearance of somebody's excess neck fat. Neck liposuction surgery has little downtime and we perform this routinely with local anesthesia in the office. I hope this helps! Sincerely, Dr Joseph

Answer: Considering chin and neck, Liposuction The primary issue with your neck is not really excess subcutaneous fat, but rather the shape and size of your mandible in relationship to the maxilla. When the man is small or lacking in projection, patients tend to develop loss of jawline definition and a premature double chin. This is most likely why the area doesn’t respond well to weight loss. That said, growing a bigger mandible isn’t really a realistic option for most people so Liposuction becomes a better procedure even though it isn’t addressing the primary problem. You should be able to get good improvement, but this is first and foremost, based on the ability to find a sufficiently experienced provider. Delivering consistent quality Liposuction results is more difficult than most people realize. The number of plastic surgeons who approach mastery of this procedure is in reality quite small. If you find the right provider, you should be able to get a fairly good improvement. It’s not going to be ideal because the procedure isn’t addressing bone structure which is the primary issue. Start having multiple in person consultations. Bring pictures of yourself to use as reference during each consultation. Ask providers to open up their portfolio and show you their entire collection of before and after pictures of previous patients who had similar facial characteristics. When you review Previous cases, pay careful attention to the relationship of the upper and lower lip, especially the size of the mandible in relationship to the maxilla because those who have better bones structure are better candidates for quality Liposuction results. This area is not always straightforward or easy to understand by both patients and provider. Good luck, Mats Hagstrom MD
