Micro needling is effective without additives or growth factors.  It will stimulate collagen, tighten skin, and help with fine lines.  Additives can be used to enhance results when needed.  This should be considered on a case by case basis.I hope this helps.

Hi Erica,Thanks so much for your question!In short, yes.  The reason you will see some improvement is that this type of resurfacing treatment acts by creating tiny channels in the skin that heal from the inside out.  Because both the surface of the skin as well as the depth of the skin are affected by this procedure, there is both some tightening of the skin as well as some improvement in the texture.The additives (Growth Factor and Hyaluronic Acid) enhance the results by saturating the channels and impacting on the deeper layer of skin (dermis).  Biologics, like your own platelets and your unique growth factors, bring added value because they exactly match your gene type and thus are more powerful.Let me know if you have other questions.In good health,Ellen Mahony, MD

Yes, microneedling can be done without growth factors, but they do improve the results. I do skin care with all my microneedling using: vitamin c, glycolic creams, growth factors and retinols.  All are anti-aging and treat complexion. In addition, I always combine prp with microneedling for best results. or we combine microneedling with lasers for an even bigger outcome.  See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer

It is the procedure itself- microneedling- that gives you the best results.  Although you have to be careful to which products you use topically, it does not really matter what you use.  In my practice we use a HA serum and Growth Factor and we see great results.  But, I think that we would still see great results even if we didn't offer the growth factor.
