3 weeks after Juvederm, and one side of lips became bigger than the other? (Photos)

Question

I got juvaderm 3 weeks ago and suddenly yesterday one side became larger than the other. It's clearly noticeable. Underneath the side that is larger there are also a few lumps and bumps. Should I massage my lips or the bumps? I want to go back in hopes that they will fix them, but am worried that the lady who did my lips just didn't do a good job.

This may be due to filler placement. If you're unhappy with your final results, you can either have a touch-up of filler or have it reversed with hyaluronidase and try a different technique next time. See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer

I would massage the lumps and bumps in them meanwhile but also contact your injector as those lumps might need dissolving if they are still there after 3 weeks of being injected.

Thank you for sharing your question and photographs and I see your area of concern.  Because enlargement of the lips is uncommon at three weeks you may have seen continued swelling resolution in the now smaller side due to less filler having been placed.  Depending on your desired outcome you can have either filler placed into the smaller side or have some of the filler dissolved on the larger.  Talk to your injector.

It is ok to gently massage the area to encourage any lumps to dissipate.  If you do not see improvement return to your injector for an evaluation.  You can discuss options including adding more filler to the one side or dissolving the filler that's already there.

Thanks for your question. To answer your question: if you're unhappy with the result simply go back to where you were injected and request either a reduction of one side (with hyaluronidase), or injection of more filler on the side that is lacking. Lip injections require an experienced injector so if you are consistently unhappy with results it may be worth it to find a more qualified provider. Best of luck to you.

As long as long as you're happy with your lips when you look straight into the mirror, you are just fine. When you look at your lips from underneath everyone notices the slight differences between the left and the right side, those are normal. Good luck from New York City
