Hello, I am interested in getting a BBL. My husband is an ass man and mine isn't so big =( Although he would like for me to have a little more cushion in the back, he doesn't want to jeopardize loosing that natural soft feel, jiggly booty if you will. He says all BBL's look stiff and hard and appear very fake looking. Why is that they look like a rock hard muscle post op? Are they soft to touch post op? Do they bounce naturally?
Answer: BBL outcomes If the procedure is done correctly then the texture of the tissues do not change. If the procedure is not done correctly and patients develop fat necrosis that is of clinical significance then the texture can become firm and lumpy. The key for this and more or less all cosmetic surgical procedures is to find the most talented provider, get an accurate assessment and have a good understanding of what can and cannot be achieved. Do that by scheduling multiple in person consultations with local board-certified plastic surgeons who have extensive experience and a solid reputation for this procedure. Each individual patient should choose to have surgery based on what they want and not what their spouse wants. Medical decisions including having surgery as a personal decision that should not be influenced by people other than the patient themselves and their caretaker. It’s nice to have your spouse on your side and obviously a caring spouse could be worried about your well-being which you would hope all spouses would. To get a good assessment and a better understanding of the procedure I recommend having multiple in person consultations. The outcomes of these procedures vary substantially depending on who does the procedure so each person interested in having a BBL needs to work diligently to find the most experienced provider in their community. During in person consultations ask each provider to show their entire collection of before and after pictures including pictures of undesirable outcomes. Read all the reviews on various physician review websites and avoid providers with any significant number of justified negative reviews. The absence of justified negative reviews is more important and more telling than an abundance of positive reviews. Best, Mats Hagstrom MD

Answer: BBL Hello, and thanks for your question. Immediately after surgery, the buttock may feel firm because it is healing. However, 6 months-1 year down the road, the area will feel soft. In a BBL, fat is transferred from one area of the body to the buttock, so as long as you are not a heavy weight lifter, your buttocks will feel soft (due to the fat transfer) after the procedure. Please see a board-certified physician for your consultation. Best of luck to you!
