Best post operative attire - can I use compression garment from c-section?

In my experience, I put my patients in a surgical abdominal garment for the first three months post-operatively to minimize swelling, these are also machine washable and can be air dried. After this period, patients can switch into spanx or other compressive garments. The garments you describe in your question sound fantastic for stage two of your post-operative healing process.

It’s best to ask your surgeon this question, as they would be more familiar with your situation and may have a different recommendation on which compression garment is the most suitable for you.

Yes it sounds like that would work fine! I like to check may patient 2 days after surgery before compression of any kind is approved. Check in with your surgeon for their protocol. I just don't think early compression is safe in all patients. Best Wishes!!

Your surgeon will typically provide the garment he/she wants you to wear. My tummy tucks will generally involve flank liposuction, and so I provide a thighs to upper abdomen compression garment with bra hooks up the side for ease of entry (without pulling hard like Spanx, which would violate your post-plication lifting restrictions), and a trapdoor to let you pee without removal.
I'd suggest asking your surgeon for either their advice on garments, or they may just provide what they want you to wear.

The best operative attire is the one recommended by your specialist, because the compression garment depends of multiple things among other the doctor's surgical technique and the type of equipment used to perform the surgery. According to the clinical criteria is the level of compression of the girdle and the period of use. Is important that you take into account that inadequate compression can generate more inflammation. I personally recommend a beige moderate compression garment which goes from under the breast and has short legs, because my tummy tucks include always liposuction to the waist and lower back and it must be pristine, for that reason must be clear color.
So my best advise is to ask your coordinator or your doctor because the garment will depend on the areas will be treated.

Your surgeon knows your condition well and has preferences on when and what to use for faster healing and recovery. Yes, you can use the compression garment that you used during your cesarean section, even better that it is completely adjustable since it has a velcro system. I prefer this type of garment, where you can perfectly control the level of compression. This is very important at the beginning of the postoperative period of a TT. A compression garment that is too tight can affect the circulation of the skin at the edge of the wound, with the risk of necrosis.

I recommend bringing these compression garments to your pre op appointment with your surgeon so she/he can see how they fit and if they would be appropriate for post op. Compression should fit snug, but not be too tight. Your surgeon will let you know what is best based on your surgical plan. Good luck with surgery!
