What course of action will I need to take for non-absorbable stitches causing discomfort in my perineum?

You need your problematic stitches removed. They aren't going to go away. Any gynecologist should be able to do this. A good one should be able to do it in the office.

I think any board-certified gynecologist should be able to remove this stitch. If you can feel it, then this should be feasible in the clinic.

The suture that is used in a vaginoplasty should be absorbable. Some suture is absorbed more rapidly that others. Delayed absorbable suture can take 12-14 weeks to dissolve completely. I suggest you see your surgeon and discuss you what you are experiencing. After an exam you surgeon will determine how to resolve your concern.

Your first course of action is to follow up with your surgeon for an examination. It is very unlikely that a permanent suture was used in your vaginal repair. Often times delayed absorbable sutures are used which take up to 3 months to dissolve - this may be what your husband is feeling.
These sutures may be trimmed (cut shorter) so that they don't cut your husband as they slowly dissolve over time and promote healing.

Your repair was 2 years ago yet you still have sutures. Make sure you see your doctor to see if any mesh or non-absorbable sutures were used. The suture should be cut and then vagina estrogen used to help heal the area.

These painful sutures need to be removed. Visit with a board certified plastic surgeon or gynecologist near you. Either physician should be able to help with the problem.

Non absorbable stitches in the perineum should be removed if causing pain. This area is very sensitive and can be managed by other means.
