I’m a bus driver. I drive 8 hours a day. I’m planning to get BBL. I might be able to take a month off for the BBL but I will have to get back to work. I will be able to work at some other departments where I will be standing all day but I am unable to stand for a long time or else my back will be so stiff and it will hurt for days. Sitting and laying down is the only thing that my back won’t hurt. But I don’t want to kill my new fat cells in my butt if I sit for 8 hours driving. What can I do?
Answer: What can I do when I have to get back to being a bus driver after my BBL? Once the transferred fat has 'taken' then there is no risk to it by sitting on it for many hours a day. Once you have passed the 4 week mark the fat is reasonably stable and you should be able to sit on a special BBL pillow while working. Make sure to stand up as frequently as possible so it is not 8 straight hours on the fat. Surgeons often have different opinions so it's probably best if you discuss this with your own surgeon before proceeding with the surgery. Best of luck!

Answer: What can I do when I have to get back to being a bus driver after my BBL? Hello, thank you for your question. This depend on every surgeon, In general, patients who resume sitting too soon after a BBL are at increased risk of losing some of their transferred fat. I recommend not sitting on your butt for one week after fat transfer. After one week you can sit on a BBL pillow on your upper thighs. One month after surgery you can begin sitting normally. Good luck!

Answer: Fat viability Dear kajsiabheev07, I instruct my patients not to sit for 2 solid weeks. We provide them a specialized pillow that our patients can sit on during that time. They can sleep on their stomachs or sides. Fat viability depends a lot of surgeon technique. The fat has to be placed back into the buttocks as soon as possible so that it has a greater chance of survival. It has to be placed carefully so that not too much fat is placed in only one area. Answer: What can I do when I have to get back to being a bus driver after my BBL? Hello and thank you for your question. Surgeons have different opinions about BBL post op care and you should follow the advice of your board-certified plastic surgeon. I would allow my patients to sit on a soft pillow and tell them to avoid prolonged sitting. There are also special BBL pillows available that put less pressure on the buttocks. After the initial 3-4 weeks, there is no restrictions in sitting. Best, Pejman Aflaki, M.D. Johns Hopkins-trained double board-certified plastic surgeon

Answer: What can I do when I have to get back to being a bus driver after my BBL? Hello dear!! Thanks for the question and provided information as well. I recommend my patients to allow 2-4 weeks for recovery, and to wait at least 7-10 days before going back to work, but each doctor has their own protocol. I also recommend not to sit for more than 30 mins. every two hours, for the first 2 weeks, and always with the help of a boppy pillow. Remember that each doctor has their own protocol, it is very important that you talk to him and follow his instructions. Hope this is helpful. Good luck :)
