How long do fillers really last?

You were likely experiencing the effect of swelling in the days following your treatment. A touch-up may be necessary if you feel that you would benefit from more volume in the area. Considering there is increased movement around the mouth, I tell my patients to expect a 6-month result with lip filler, at which time a touch up may be necessary in order to maintain results. It is possible that your injector wanted to start with a conservative amount of filler to avoid overfilling. While I agree with this approach, often times it is necessary to add more filler at follow up to see visible results. I recommend following up with your injector to discuss your concerns and the potentially add more filler. Best of luck.

From what you have described you likely just need more filler.  The lips tend to swell after injection and that swelling can last up to two weeks.  You probably were enjoying the effect of the filler combined with the swelling.  It is fine to go slowly at first since it is simple to return to have more filler added if desired.  Typically fillers in the lips last 6-9 months.
