Can a cold/flu cause swelling at (juvederm) injection sites?

I would go see your doctor for a follow up on your cheek filler just to rule out the likelihood of an infection. Although extremely rare, there is more risks of injection in the cheeks due to the deep injections in close proximity to bone. Re-swelling and tenderness in localized areas over a week after injections when the swelling has already gone down is not a common occurrence after filler. Oral antibiotics help resolve this and in some cases, may be the need to dissolve the filler in the localized area.

It is best that you visit with a doctor for an examination and to ensure you don't have an infection.  You will both feel better for it.

Obviously it is tough to tell what is happening without examining you.  That being said, I would be at least a little concerned if you are having "flu like symptoms" and the cheeks and lips are now swollen and tender.  I'm certain your doctor would want to see you to make sure there isn't a more significant infection.  Good luck!

 Hi, I have performed many facial shaping procedures using dermal fillers, facial implants (cheek, chin), liposuction and/or facelifts for over 30 years.  A cold or flu should not infect a dermal filler and if you have tenderness with swelling in the area of the dermal filler treatment it's best that you be seen by the MD that performed the dermal filler treatment to rule out an infection.  You may opt to dissolve the HA filler using hayluronidase.Hope this helps.
