Can I get more Juvederm to fix my fish shape lips? (Photo)

Hi Ms Sandoval. Sorry to hear about your situation.  You do have the option of adding more product but that may not be the best option right now given how unhappy you are.  You could also dissolve the product and start over.  Vitrase (Hyaluronidase) is used to dissolve products like Restylane and Juvederm so that you can go back to looking the way you were prior to the injections.  To see an example of how it works for another Los Angeles patient, click on the link below.

After 4 days, you have swelling, which will last 1-2 weeks after your injections. If you're unhappy with your final results, you can have it reversed with hyaluronidase or have a touch-up depending on the results you want. See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer

The most common side effects of
Juvederm include tenderness, swelling, firmness, bruising, pain, and
redness.  Most side effects last 14 days
or less.  Since you had your injections 4
days ago it would be advisable to wait for the swelling to reduce before
getting more injections.  Speak with an
experienced clinician for future injections and to discuss options of either
dissolving the current filler with hyaluronidase, or injecting more
Juvederm. 

Thank you for your question. It is too early to determine what your final results will be. At 4 days you still have swelling. It will take up 2 weeks for all swelling to resolve and to see your final results. If after 2 weeks you are unhappy with your results you can have it dissolved with an enzyme known as hyaluronidase. You can also have a touch up of Juvederm. Please make sure you are seeing an expert injector. Best of Luck!

Thank you for your photos. If you are happy with your current size and/or want to go bigger, you can additional filler placed to help change and alter your current shape. Since you are describing your cupid's bow as overfilled, you may do better with having the current filler dissolved with hyaluronidase and then have your lips injected after two weeks for a fresh start. You should visit an experienced injector who is willing to take the time to listen to your goals and sculp your lips into the specific shape you ask for. Hope this helps!Johnson C. Lip injections are an art and I would definitely consult a board certified dermatologist next time who understands cosmetic injections to give you a beautiful result.  At this point I would wait ten days to see if there is swelling that will resolve and if not then return to have Vitrase injected and dissolve the Juvederm.  Please keep us posted.  Best, Dr. Green

I would wait it out for about 2 weeks. If still unhappy, discuss with your provider and come up with a game plan. If you can't agree, seek another opinion. It will probably end up ok. 

Dear mssandova4612:It is not uncommon to notice swelling for 1-2 weeks post lip augmentation with Juvederm.  I would recommend waiting 2 weeks and following up with your injector then.  This allows for more accurate decision making and treatment follow up.  Best wishes.

Hello mssandoval4612,Thank you for your question and photos. It would be best to wait two weeks after the initial injection to give adequate time for complete resolution of your swelling (expected post lip augmentation) and then present to your professional who did the injection to assess if this situation is still present and remains a source of anxiety for you. If this is the case you can have the filler dissolved with hyaluronidase let things settle a couple of weeks and start fresh. Whomever you choose be quite clear as to your desired outcome to help avoid this from happening again. Best wishes. 

I think that four days is too soon to be judging the outcome of your injection.  However, once swelling has resolved (approximately 7 to 14 days) you could consider dissolving the filler.  Unfortunately it is not possible to dissolve only some of it and leave some behind.  You might consider trying a different injector preferably a board-certified plastic surgeon or dermatologist and might even consider injection of small amounts of Botox to elevate the corners of your mouth next time.  The combination of filler and elevation of the corner of your mouth might provide a very pleasing improvement especially if not overdone.  Good luck and please be patient for the time being.Jon A Perlman M.D., FACSDiplomate, American Board of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS)ABC-TV Extreme Makeover SurgeonBeverly Hills, California
