Hi! Yes, I do perform MMO on hyperthyroid patients. You would have to have it under control, normal thyroid levels, on medication and have a preoperative endocrine evaluation and clearance to make sure everything is optimized prior to undergoing general anesthesia. Hope this helps!

Hyperthyroidism would not preclude you from having a MMO...but it has to be both stable and managed. I'd suggest meeting with your PCP and/or endocrinologist (whomever is managing the disorder) to discuss the short and long term management strategies...once your hyperthyroidism is stable and managed, have that provider write a summary letter or letter of clearance. If you show up to your plastic surgery appointment with that letter, it helps your surgeon to understand the status of your condition.
