Hello! Mommy Makeover is a broad term that typically describes breast and body contouring procedures to refresh women's bodies after pregnancies, and associated weight changes and aging. Breast surgery can include breast augmentation and/or breastlift. Body procedures include Liposuction of the Back and Liposuction or Tummy Tuck of the Abdomen. Other procedures like Facial procedures or Labiaplasty may be tied into the procedure.A common combination procedure may be a breast augmentation/lift (2.5 hours), a tummy tuck with muscle repair (2 hours), and back liposuction (1.5 hours). This comes to about 6 hours. As long as the patient is healthy and the procedure minimizes blood loss and heat loss, the procedure is perfectly safe. Of course this would also take into consideration having surgery with an experienced, board certified plastic surgeon who performs surgery in an accredited facility.I would recommend you meet with a board certified plastic surgeon. You can find one at plasticsurgery.org. Best of luck to you!
Mommy makeovers take a long time when you choose to have multiple procedures. Just make sure you choose a board certified plastic surgeon and are in good health going in. Then plan to have solid after care. Either choose to stay with a care service, your doctors office, or exceptionally competent family member bc you may need a lot assistance for the first night. If you would like to be seen for a consultation, feel free to reach out to my office. Smith Plastic Surgery 702-838-2455
Hi & thanks for your question! The amount of time needed for this surgery will differ from surgeon to surgeon. Call the surgical practice you are using to ask how long or how many hours your procedure is going to take. Best wishes!
Hello @Chinny21, thank you for your question. IAn operating room is always the safest place for surgery if everything is in order. Having a pre-anesthesia consultation allows you to understand what type of anesthesia will be used during your procedure and what to expect during the procedure and afterwards. Best wishes! Alan Gonzalez MD, FACS.
Hello! Thank you for sharing your doubts with us. The surgery time will depend on several factors, the main one is the complexity involved in each specific case, the truth is that the longer the surgical time extends, the more risks and complications could be faced. In our medical practice it usually takes us 3 hours to perform this procedure.
Hi there the length of the operation varies 4-6 hrs or even longer depending on the type of procedures that you are having , for example a typical abdominoplasty is 2.5 hrs, a breast lift is 2hrs , if you add implants 1hr and if you add liposuction another hr. It is generally safe provided you don't have any medical conditions. Thromboprophylaxis for blood clots is recommended. Best luck with your surgery
Hi Chinny, The amount of time that one can be safely under anesthesia depends on several issues. First, are youhealthy? Do you have any medical issues that would put you at high risk for 6 hours? Conditions, such as heart problems, or other severe medical problems, a history of blood clots, or history of a pulmonary embolism in the past might determine if you can have a safe anesthesia for such a long time. Furthermore, you should ask for a Board certified anesthesiologist to give you anesthesia and to monitor you during the surgery.Your plastic surgeon needs to take a good medical history before such a surgery and optimally, have you cleared by your own medical doctor before the surgery. Also, if you have a lengthy surgery, it might be best for you to have the surgery in a hospital and possible stay overnight to be watched by health care professional.Hope this helps a bit.Good Luck!Dr. Christine Rodgers
Dear Chinny21,I understand your concern. It is best however that you consult with a board certified plastic surgeon to determine whether you can have several aesthetic surgeries in one session, as this would depend on various factors including but not limited to your general health condition, the type of anesthesia that will be used, and the type of surgeries that will be performed among others.Daniel Barrett, MDCertified, American Board of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery
Outpatient general anesthesia is usually 4-5 hours depending upon the accreditation of the facility. Past the 6-hour time frame, most will be kept overnight for observation. Plan to stay overnight.
Hello! All surgeons work at different paces. Some can do a mommy makeover in 5 hours, some will require more like 8 or 9 hours. Our board certified anesthesiologists prefer patients to stay under 6 hours of general anesthesia in an outpatient setting. They will push to 8 depending on patient health and surgical circumstances. Anything over that we will almost always need to be done in a hospital or require transfer to a hospital after for recovery.Best of luck!Dr. Tom Korkos
You should not consume any alcohol while taking pain medication, especially after surgery since your liver is dealing with all the drugs used. You may need medication up to 2 weeks. Alcohol will not be helpful with healing. Ideally, you will have nothing for 4 weeks, but could have a small...
Thanks for your question! Your BMI is around 37. In order to have the best result and lower the risk of healing issues you should have a BMI 0f 32. Try getting to a weight of 190lbs. Schedule a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon to discuss your options. Best wishes!
The cost of surgeries changes from country to country. Also, surgeon's experience and reputation, the complexity of the procedure, the location of the surgery center, the extent of the surgery, the type of anesthesia used adds to the overall cost but 50.000$ seems a bit too high for the...
