Question

I’m having trouble breathing and looking to get an alar batten graft. I just want to know if I should expect much change in appearance? Will my nose look fuller or much different from what it is now?

Generally speaking a well contoured and appropriately placed alar batten graft does not cause significant change in the appearance of the nose. I would suggest a full evaluation by a surgeon who specializes in rhinoplasty surgery. Looking at your base view photo, it appears you may have some "recurvature" of the lower lateral cartilage, and if that is the case I would recommend a different type of graft to correct this- called a lateral crural strut graft. Alar batten grafts can make the nasal tip wider, since you're adding structural support and additional cartilage volume to the nasal tip. A thorough internal examination the nose going to be required to determine what is causing the nasal obstruction, since there is many different issues on the inside of the nose that can be the source of your obstruction.
