Do I have a hanging columella?

I recently asked a question on this site regarding a revision rhinoplasty I had that I feel was unsuccessful. The only doctor that responded said I had a "long nose and hanging columella" before seeing a doctor in person I'd like to verify that I in fact do have a hanging columella. I used to have a very up turned nose before the revision and original surgery and I don't want to go under again. Is there any other solution to my concerns? Also can light touching nose cause it to change shape?

if your original nose was shorter and upturned, your revision looks generally quite nicemost people seeking revisions who report a 'hanging columella' actually have retracted nostrils secondary to over-resected tip cartilages....your tip and alar rims.look good ... you DO in fact have a slightly malpositioned columellathere are 2 issues to address in your case: the first is your low nasal spine (where your nose meets your upper lip) and the second is the position of your columella itself... although there are a few methods described to deal with these, I prefer a straightforward nasal spine adjustment and a 'tongue-in-groove' repositioning of the columella by fixing the medial crus of the lower lateral cartilage to the caudal septum or a septal extension graft if the caudal serum is deficient.good luck

Yes, there is a hanging columella present and a prominent nasal spine.  This can be improved with a columella-plasty.
