Which would you recommend; Radiesse or Juvederm to better fill Marionette lines, mouth & chin area? (photos)

In my opinion, I prefer Juvederm as I feel it lasts longer and can be removed with hyaluronidase. However, the most important factor Is the physician injector.See an experienced doctor, ask to see photos.By the way, microneedle radio-frequency  (Infini) can tighten your face as an excellent adjunct.Good Luck!

Thank you for your question. Radiesse is not a good filler for the fine lines around the mouth. Hyaluronic acid fillers such as Restylane or Juvederm are better for this area. Also, hyaluronic acid fillers can be dissolved if you are unhappy with the results, whereas Radiesse cannot. I recommend having a consultation with an expert injector to discuss your concerns and to determine the best treatment plan for you. Cosmetic filler injections are a sterile gel/solution
consisting of stabilized hyaluronic acid or calcium hydroxyapatite. These
injections are given to correct facial wrinkles and/or for lip augmentation.
Cosmetic filler injections have been approved for correction of facial wrinkles
in the nasolabial area between the cheek and the nose/upper lip
(“on-label" use). The biggest difference between the two types of fillers
is the reversibility of hyaluronic fillers which gives it a major advantage.
Hyaluronic acid fillers being temporary and Radiesse being
semi-permanent. Hyaluronic acid fillers are easy to reverse with
hyaluronidase but radiesse cannot be reversed other than waiting a few years
for the product to dissolve. This is the most important thing to consider. This
is an advanced technique so be sure to get an experienced dermatologist or
plastic surgeon consultation for recommendations and treatment options.

Both Radiess® and Juvederm® are excellent fillers for the lower face. Depending on your specific anatomy and individual preferences, your board-certified aesthetic physician can decide with you which would be best at your office visit. For sagging, also consider skin-tightening lasers such as Viora® radio frequency laser or Ulthera® ultrasound laser.

Judging by the pictures you have provided I would suggest to
consider Sculptra for the whole face rejuvenation. Unlike fillers such as
Radiasse and Juvederm, Sculptra is poly L lactic acid in a particle form which
makes you produce your own collagen when injected under your skin. This product
can be injected to restore sunken temples and to correct flat and drooped areas
that occur as we age in the mid and
lower face. A lot of patients prefer
Sculptra to the gradual and natural volume restoration that these injections
provide. Based on your pictures I would suggest at least 4 vials, but in person
consultation will provide your healthcare provider with better understanding of
your facial anatomy and may yield more options of facial rejuvenation.
Superficial lines around the mouth can be improved with Restylane silk which is
a hyaluronic acid filler and small injections of Botox.

Marionette lines are simply folds that are a result of
normal aging changes of the face which includes changes in the bone, soft
tissue and skin. If a doctor is simply injecting the area of the marionette
line, it very difficult to improve them and still have it look natural. We usually have to treat the support
structures of the face by injecting in the mid face or cheek area to lift the
marionettes, rather than injecting directly into the marionette. Each face is different, and the treatment and
fillers used are going to depend on your skin type, what other fillers you’ve
had, your age and so forth. It is always
best to treat the face as a full unit, and think of it that way rather than
looking at specific lines, because that is a way of keeping a treatment looking
very natural. I prefer to use Sculptra and Radiesse to lift and shape the face
which can improve marionette lines rather than simply injecting into the
marionette lines with thinner fillers such as Juvederm or Restylane. Ultherapy and Thermi technologies can also be
effective, minimally invasive treatment options for improving marionette lines
by lifting and tightening the face. Seek
out an experienced injector of the face who can do a complete facial analysis
and explain to you what would be the best way to move forward. Best of luck.

Juvederm is more forgiving in the perioral (around the mouth) area yet doesn't last as long, but that would be what I would probably recommend for someone such as yourself with early signs of aging around the mouth. Radiesse may be a little firmer and more palpable in this area of concern.  Radiesse is good for thicker skin areas like nasolabial folds and like you said cheeks and jawline. Good luck!

Although the biochemical formulations are not identical, both serve the same purpose. Neither is permanent and you could use either.  For superficial lines, I use Restylane but Radiesse is helpful for the deep nasolabial creases.
