I got my earlobes seen shut from having stretched ear lobes about 6 weeks ago and they are a funny pointy shape right now. My dr. says they will round out in shape and not be so pointy but all the photos I've seen of others with the procedure done have great shaped ears right out of the doctors office. I don't want to get discouraged but they look ugly!
Answer: Earlobe; funny shape Who is a candidate? #EarlobeReduction surgery as requested five patients who have extensively large earlobes that may be large from family traits, aging, the use of very large earrings or plugs, or previous facial surgery. #TornEarlobes can occur when an earing is caught on something pulling it through the lobe. This will result in a #SplitEarlobe or #CleftEarlobe. The use of ear plugs and large piercings create large holes which require reconstruction to reform a normal appearing lobe. #PixieEarlobes can occur after facial cosmetic surgery, leaving a long and large earlobe pulled down along the side of the face #LargeEarlobes can occur as a family trait or just with aging. Our ears continue to grow each decade of life. What type of anesthesia is used? Generally these procedures are performed under local anesthetic and require 15 to 30 minutes depending upon how complex the particular case is. These are in-office , out-patient procedures.

Answer: Will my earlobes change shape (more round)? (photos) They may round out a bit as the scar contracts but not likely enough to achieve what you are looking for. It is too early to consider a revision at this point but if you are still unhappy in 6 months then see your surgeon to discuss revising the scar. Hope that helps!

Answer: Will my earlobes change shape (more round)? Unfortunately, your ear lobes will need to be revised. You can attempt to massage them but the issue is that their is redundant tissue along your earlobe margin that needs to be removed. This issue typically develops when surgeons try to avoid cutting through the earlobe margin but it results in a "pointy" shape that appears odd. A revision should be fairly straight forward in experienced hands. I hope this information is helpful for you.Stephen Weber MD, FACSDenver Facial Plastic Surgeon

Answer: Pointy Earlobes After Stretched Earlobe Repair Sadly, your earlobe repair has left you with pointy shaped earlobes, and unfortunately they are not going to round out on their own. The good news, however, is that with a revisional procedure the roundness to your earlobes can be restored. We repair a lot of stretched ("gauged") earlobes, and we have found that it is often times necessary to remove some earlobe skin in both the vertical and horizontal directions. This leaves patients with both a vertical and horizontal scar (a cross), but the shape looks great, and the scars are barely noticeable 6-12 months later! In your case, a horizontal incision across your existing scar needs to be made, and small triangles of skin on either side of the scar need to be removed. This will shorten your earlobe, leaving it less pointy looking. Thanks for sharing!

Answer: Change in Earlobe Shape after Repair I think that it is doubtful that your lobes will round out to the point that you want without further treatment. They may very well round out some more and be less pointy as the scar matures. Scars mature over the course of the first year. Your scars may contract slightly over this period to improve the result - but only marginally. You will likely still have noticeable contour deformities of the lobes. I'm sorry to deliver bad news, but I do feel that further surgery will be necessary to produce a natural-appearing lobe. I would wait another month or so before undergoing a revision, but a revision should help. I wish you the very best of luck.
