Earlobe surgery is composed of several techniques that can either repair torn earlobes (split earlobes) or correct overly redundant earlobe tissue from piercings or genetics or stretching. Our HIDEF earlobe repair includes a recontouring of the earlobe contour using multilayered sutures to reapproximate the curvature of the earlobe; while simultaneously restoring contour to the ear. In patients with pixie ears after facelift surgery, an alternate technique is used to reduce the dependance of the earlobe on the facelift flap. Facelift surgery can reshape the earlobe and this requires restoration. Sutures are usually taken out within 10 days and the wound is repierced in 4-6 weeks thereafter. Keloid scars must be addressed in patients with known history for scarring. Best, Dr. KaramanoukianRealself100 Surgeon
Keloids and hypertrophic scarsare common problems with piercings and gauged plugs. They can be excised, treated withlasers, injections of kenalog and 5fu.Pressure clips are sometimes useful during the healing process. Unfortunately, there is some tendency for recurrence.
Many thanks for your question.Ear lobe surgery is a simple procedure which can be performed under local anaesthesia and will give you the appearance you desire.I advise all my patients to bring in pictures of ear lobes they find aesthetically pleasing to ensure that I am able to give them the outcome they are hoping for.I hope this helps
Your earlobes can be "detached" to create the look that you're simulating with your finger. This would involve what is called a V to Y advancement and would create a small straight scar between your cheek and the new attachment point of your earlobe. It should heal nicely and can be refined with CO2 laser resurfacing as early as 6 weeks following your procedure. I hope this information is helpful for you.Stephen Weber MD, FACSDenver Facial Plastic Surgeon
There are a variety of factors that make the earlobe shape suboptimal. Some individuals are born with an earlobe that is misshaped. However, the most common reason for the earlobe abnormality is a facelift. Regardless of the etiology the earlobe shape can be altered in a variety ways, often under local anesthesia. You may wish to consult a board certified plastic surgeon to create a more pleasing shape to your earlobes.
You have an attached ear lobe, that is a normal possible earlobe shape. It is also an earlobe that can be created by a facelift with too much tension. I would suggest you find a board-certified plastic surgeon in your area who can help to correct this if you would like.Good luck!
It appears that you have an attached earlobe but want it to be detached. I agree with other comment in that a facelift surgery could have caused this look when the incision around the earlobe is not re-attached carefully. However, some people are just born with attached earlobe with minimal delineation between the face and ear border. Interestingly, as you age, there will be pulling of your facial tissues/skin downward and your attached earlobe appearance may be more pronounced. I also agree with the V to Y advancement reconstructive method which can be done under local anesthesia in the office setting. Good luck!
Thank you for your question, and the photos are very helpful. The answer is, yes, certainly we could design a repair that would improve this problem, and create a true earlobe that is not so closely adhered to your cheek. It can be done in the office setting. I would simply visit w/ a PS near you for consultation. Best of luck
The attached earlobe is often seen after facelift surgery. It can be detached as described by other surgeons. Please use this information when consulting in person with an experienced Board Certified Plastic Surgeon prior to making treatment decisions.
If you want more of a drop earlobe as opposed to an attached look, then this can be performed. A small scar is incision is made and the cheek skin is advanced upward under the newly created ear lobe.
Earlobe repair is a common procedure in our plastic surgery office. I employ a technique that involves removing the excess scar tissue and reapproximating the tissue planes in multiple layers to recontour the earlobe after gauges, torn earlobes, or stretched out earlobes. Sometimes, the same...
