Once a tear develops in the earlobe, it can heal itself if it’s small and hasn’t torn through the lobe. However, larger tears may require surgery. It’s probably best to wait to see if the tear heals on it’s own - give it a few months before you consider surgery.
Re-piercing can be done 3 to 6weeks after injury but 3-6 months is better. Swelling is usually significant in the first several weeksand some can persist for a few months but this is not as common.Piercing holes frequently closeup on their own
Without a photo its hard to say because I do not know how long or thick the tear is, find a cosmetic surgeon to get an opinion in person.
Thanks for your question. It is very unlikely that a torn earlobe will heal properly. This is a very common problem and a small procedure can be done, often times in the clinic, to repair it. However, doing a 3 year old in the clinic may be a bit challenging and this may require having it done in the operating room with a little sedation. Best of luck to you.
Thank you for your question. It sounds like your daughter will need to have this repaired. A tear from earrings will not heal on it's own.Hope this helps
If the earlobe piercing is torn all the way through, it will eventually heal, HOWEVER, the piercing will remain split. If she would like to be able to wear an earring in that earlobe again, the split earlobe would have to be repaired surgically.
God has given our bodies an incredible ability to heal itself. Most small tears will heal themselves. Complete earlobe splits are a different story. Please consult in person with an experienced Board Certified Plastic Surgeon prior to making treatment decisions.
Thank you for your question, and I'm sure that is distressing to you and your daughter. If a few days have passed now since the injury, it may be better to wait a little while to allow it to heal as best as possible, and then plan any necessary procedure to fix it. Best wishes.
Hello Sugarbaer84,If the earring has been pulled all the way through if it is not repaired it will always be split (like a snake's tongue). If she wants to wear earrings again she would also need it to be repaired. I hope this helps and good luck.
