Hi, thank you for sharing your question. The decision to use lovenox or not is based on your overall health and your risk factors for developing a blood clot based on the Caprini Risk Assessment.
Hello! The quick answer is generally No. Your surgeon will evaluate your risk factor for clotting after surgery. There is actually a well established and utilized score system. Some factors include your age, weight, whether you are on hormones, if you have previously experienced blood clots, how long the surgery will take, and other variables. Based on this score your surgeon will decide if you require Lovenox. Typically with torso liposuction the risk of clotting is low and will not require protection provided by Lovenox.I would recommend you see a board certified plastic surgeon. You can find one at plasticsurgery.org.Best of luck to you!
Dear Fantastic343232,every plastic surgeon has his own preoperative protocol which he recommends to his patients. I would suggest you to discuss this with your plastic surgeon.Daniel Barrett, MDCertified, American Board of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery
Thank you for your question. To provide a valid medical opinion I will need to see pictures of you body from different angles. I would suggest to be treated by board certified plastic surgeon with experience in this procedure, to get the best desired results.Respectfully,Dr. Emmanuel Mallol Cotes.-
This question is best answered by your surgeon after an examination and discussion of your medical history. Your surgeon will inform you of what is needed in terms of pre operative testing and post operative care.
In order to determine if you need to be on Lovenox, more health information is needed. For now, ask your surgeon or medical doctor. Routinely, we do not place people on Lovenox for liposuction.
Depends upon your medical & clotting history. I might recommend 1 dose postop with aggressive early ambulation. Plus seeing you for 3 days straight after surgery to monitor you. Please virtual consult...
Older patients can have both Liposuction and fat transfer but make lesser candidates than younger patients. With age comes a loss of skin elasticity and this lessens the quality of liposuction and fat transfer results. Each plastic surgeon will have their own protocol for avoiding blood clots during surgery. A lot depends on if patients have any significant medical history of previous blood clots.I suggest having multiple in person consultations with local board-certified plastic surgeons at which time you will get a more accurate assessment and can ask firsthand what each doctor recommends. If you do not have a history of forming blood clots then you should not need Lovenox for the procedure.Personally I do these procedures with patients awake using local anesthesia with mild sedation so the chance of developing a blood clot is fairly low.Best,Mats Hagstrom MD
Yes, you can have liposuction in the abdominal area because the areas treated are in a different location, not the same.
Thanks for your question! It could be a lipoma or a cyst. Regardless, you should get a CT scan to rule out anything suspicious prior to proceeding with liposuction. Good luck!
If you are less than 6 months from your procedure, you still may have some swelling which increases as you go towards the elbow because of gravity. Otherwise, discuss with your surgeon if that areas was treated. Most of the time, it is.
