Is it smarter to have lipo or a TT done?

My bmi is 30%. A coordinator recommended lipo, but then I asked about a MMO. I know with a MMO very little lipo is performed. I really want a smaller waist. What would be best?

Lipo and TT are for very different indications. While Liposuction addresses excess fat, TT addresses skin laxity. So the determination between liposuction and TT should depend on how much excess fat and skin laxity you have

Hi and welcome to our forum!Tummy tuck and liposuction accomplish two totally separate things...A tummy tuck is designed to reverse the effects of pregnancy or following weight loss by tightening the underlying stretched out abdominal musculature and by removing the stretched out (and often hanging) loose skin.A liposuction removes fatty deposits under the skin but does little to the overlying skin. If the skin is loose, it will become looser. It is not a weight loss procedure (as only ~8 pounds of fat can be removed during a procedure due to hemodynamic concerns), but instead is designed as a reshaping procedure. The choice of procedure depends upon the nature of your problem. Your BMI is 30, which is deemed acceptable. The cosmetic result improves in patients with lower BMIs. Rather than a coordinator, it may be best to visit and speak directly to a board certified plastic surgeon for evaluation and discussion.Best wishes...

Thank you for your question. A tummy tuck will address excess skin & repair of the abdominal muscle. The abdominal wall can be weakened after pregnancy and (or) significant weight gain & loss. By repairing the muscle, not only does the appearance of your abdominal area improve, but your core strength as well. The repair of the muscle will cinch your waist like an inner corset, which will accentuate your curves. Liposuction will remove excess fat from unwanted areas with some skin retraction. Your expectations and health will dictate the best procedure(s) for you. I suggest a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon to go over the options that best address your goals. Hi, thank you for sharing your question. It’s difficult to make an assessment without photos but if you excess skin laxity, a tummy tuck would be best. Liposuction can be performed in addition to help contour the waist. I hope this helps.

The difference between a tummy tuck and liposuction is the amount of sagging skin in the abdomen. Liposuction often leaves unwanted and unsightly hanging skin. Always look for a surgeon who offers an Hourglass Tummy Tuck with 360 Lipo to get the most appealing and satisfactory results.

As you no doubt know from your research that Liposuction and Tummy tuck are very different things. Liposuction will remove the fat but not the skin. Some excess skin can tighten up of course but not all of it. The results are generally less dramatic with liposuction. In a tummy tuck the excess skin and fat  is removed and loose abdominal muscles from having had children are tightened up. Without pictures it is very hard to say which you are suitable for. Your BMI of 30% does help and despite that it might indicate that you would still be a candidate for liposuction. If you're willing to share pictures then I might be able to provide a better insight.

For some doctors lipo is an indispensable part of a tummy tuck surgery and I am one of them. For a good result to have, significant amount of fat needs to be taken from back, sides and abdomen. So I think this is the smart way to perform tummy tuck.
