Can you have liposuction if you’ve had a laparoscopic endometriosis surgery in the past?

Hi, thank you for sharing your question. You can safely proceed with liposuction after laparoscopic surgery. A thorough exam of your abdomen should be done to evaluate for hernias.

The only concern would be during the time of laparoscopic surgery the fascia has been injured and you may develop a hernia. It would be best to have an ultrasound and examination of the abdomen to make sure there is no hernia. If there is a hernia present and have liposuction, the hernia can be damaged and lead to infection. You need to cleared that there is no hernia before undergoing liposuction.

Previous laparoscopic surgery may slightly increase risk of liposuction due to presence of laparoscopic scars on the abdominal wall; that may increase chance of abdominal wall and organ perforation. Otherwise, providing that you are in good health, liposuction should be considered. Good luck.

I appreciate your concerns and liposuction may certainly be performed after laparoscopic endometriosis surgery in the past, especially if at least six months have passed since the laparoscopic procedure has been performed. Patients undergoing abdominal liposuction must be examined and abdominal hernias and any other issues be ruled out before surgery can be performed. Yes, you can have liposuction in the abdominal area because the areas treated are in a different location, not the same.

Endometriosis is not a contraindication for having liposuction. Endometriosis affects the internal abdomen while liposuction removes fat under the skin (two totally different areas).

It isn’t a question of time as much as scar tissue formation. More would need to be explored as to the GYN surgery and it could affect the limited area in question but not the remainder of the abdomen such that you could achieve improvement. Best wishes!

Having had previous intabdominal or pelvic surgery should not limit your ability to have liposuction of your abdomen or torso.

I suggest scheduling multiple in person consultations with local board-certified plastic surgeons to get an assessment and a better understanding of Liposuction.

I will point out that delivery consistent quality liposuction results is more difficult than most people believe and there is a substantial variation and outcomes depending on who does the procedure.

Being bored certified with a good reputation in plastic surgery is not sufficient to know that someone has mastered this procedure.

Liposuction is permanent and irreversible and can leave people disfigured if done incorrectly so please that plastic surgeons carefully and choose one who has a proven track record.

Do that by having multiple in person consultations at which time you should request to see their entire portfolio before and after pictures.

Make sure you see pictures from all angles including the backside.

Personally I treat the entire torso is a single anatommic unit in order to Leave people with a natural even thin fat distribution without Transition zones from treated to untreated areas. This means that I treat upper lower abdomen love handles waste back and under arm areas all as one unit.

The only problem in doing liposuction after laparoscopic surgery is the residual scar under the incision site. However, an experienced surgeon should be able to determine pre-op what the problems will be and work around the scars.make sure whoever you see is an experienced plastic surgeon, as they understand the problems.
