How long will I need a nurse/caretaker during mommy makeover recovery?

At my practice , generally we recommend 7-10 days but that also depends on the extent and the number of procedures but in particular with regard to breast augmentation and Abdominoolasty I recommend 7 days to my patients.Respectfully,Kamran Azad , MD

Since every surgeon has his or her own post op protocol, speak with your surgeon. I think you could get away with a caretaker/nurse for just the first two nights. But if you are flying, you will want to wait 2 weeks before getting on a plane. Hope this helps, Dr. Nazarian

Not flying for 14 days would be best.  Please discuss with your surgeon as he/she is most familiar with your medical history.   Inquire about staying at an after care facility the first and possible second night after surgery.  There will be an onsite nursing staff to care for you and help manage your initial post op pain.

I think it would be prudent to be near your plastic surgeon for 10 days to two weeks after a mommy makeover. Most patients can independently take care of themselves in four or five days.

The determining factor for recovery after these two procedures is the tummy tuck. My patients usually require at least some minimal help for the first five days and then, soon thereafter, can be quite independent with driving and being able to leave the home and take care of themselves.

Mommy makeovers involve various combinations of proceudres to improve the breasts, abdomen, hips, back, arms, legs, buttocks, etc after childbirth.

Combination procedures are safe and very effective in the right hands. The surgeon HAS to be an expert in EACH procedure and must have a lot of experience in performing combination procedures and can minimize the operative time. For example, we work in a team and would take around 4-5 hours for the complete operation. This allows us to get better results with less surgical time and less trauma. Our patients are typically wlking the same day and tapering off of pain medications by 4-5 days. By a week, our internattional patients are generally touring around Cartagena enjoying the sites of this UNSECO World Heritage City. Patients progress to unrestricted activities by 2 months, just as the final results are settling in.

Combination procedures can give powerful results but SAFETY is KEY. You definitely have to choose your surgeon correctly and make sure that he/she has the training and experience to meet your goals with absolute safety. Don’t settle for less than a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon with specialized expertise in this procedure.

Hi.. thank you for the question... The recovery time of these type of procedures it is generally 8-10 days. Here in the caribbean while you are recoverying nurse care is present to make sure nothing go wrong.

Recovery is unique to each person. Since you will be alone having someone to assist you throughout the day would be helpful for the first few days. You may need help showering, dressing, and opening medication bottles. You will not be able to drive during that time either so you will need assistance to get to doctor appointments. Keep in mind you will have lifting restrictions in place so will need help with your luggage.

Unfortunately we can only give a response in very very generalized terms - at least 7 days. Since we do not know you or your medical/surgical history. But coming ALONE I believe is a mistake! Good Luck.
