I'm getting BBL + lipo 360 & arm lipo. I'm aware that in Miami they are only allowed to remove 4 liters of pure fat. I have a lot of fat in my flanks and stomach area so I'm worried that if the arms are included in that procedure, my doctor won't make my stomach flat enough because he's got to stay under that 4Liter mark. I was wondering if 4 liters can be removed from my stomach/flanks and then a little more from my arms, or if the entire body had to stay under the 4 liter mark. Thanks :)
Answer: Lipo360 - VASER HD, J Plasma/Renuvion/Inmode BodyTite tightening, fat grafting for buttock lift/BBL, Cellfina/Sculptra in LA we are allowed 5L, and we will do up to the 5L then have to stop as Its not safe. I suggest you speak to your physician, if you are larger you can stage the procedures a few days apart and get 10L we do that here quite often. Also consider hormonal optimization pre and post surgery to really help you lose more weight and tighten your skin (see link to our antiaging physician). Best, Dr. Emer. You need a formal evaluation by an expert in body shaping and contouring to determine what is best. Traditional liposuction awake and smart liposuction are old methods and do very poorly for tightening skin or significant skin tightening or contouring. Small problem areas can be improved slightly by these methods. The best in body contouring not only removes fat with energy devices like VASER ultrasound but also internally heat the skin with radio-frequency devices such as J PLASMA/RENUVION, InMode BodyTite, ThermiRF to heat the under surface of the skin and tighten it at the same time as fat removal. These combinations are called 4D HIDEF VASER contouring and can only be done by a well . trained body contouring specialist. At the same time fat should be harvested, PRP and stem cells added and injected into muscles or indentations/cellulite to get body shaping and contouring. This is known as a Brazilian butt lift when you inject the fat to the buttock for contouring and lifting, but fat can also be used in areas such as the chest/breast, arms/shoulders, calves and face. Cellulite should also be treated with cellfina, sculptra, subcision and/or fillers such as bellafill, renuva synthetic fat, or sculptra. If skin is very loose before surgery then it will need to be removed such as lower abdominal skin (tummy tuck/abdominoplasty), breast skin (breast lift), arm skin (brachioplasty). Overall you need a full assessment, but simple liposuction alone will not tighten skin and needs a combination of various methods -- fat removal, skin tightening, defining, fat grafting, skin removal -- to get the best in body contouring and body sculpting. Dr. Emer.

Answer: Volume of liposuction High volume liposuction can be associated with significant risks, including death. Best to discuss with your board certified plastic surgeon: their experience and risk reduction techniques, how they decide on the safe volume removed, have they had any deaths or serious complications. What measures their anesthesiologist use to reduce risks. These are important questions to ask and not just how much can be removed. Better to do safely in several steps than push the limits and risks. The volume of fat that can safely be removed in one setting depends on your health, other risk factors for surgery, your BMI (weight) etc. I like to quote a safe maximum of total fluid removed at about 100ml per unit of BMI. Beyond this the risk increase significantly. 4000ml of total fat, at 70% fat per volume of lipoaspirate, is almost 6L of total lipoaspirate removed. That is a high risk volume. Typically in Ontario Canada we limit to max 5L total lipoaspirate volume (3500ml fat) But again depends on your BMI and overall health, safety precautions and monitoring done by your surgeon and anesthesiologist. It's not a one max volume fits all, and I always aim for patient safety first. Take care.

Answer: Liposuction volume limits It is difficult to answer your question accurately without examining you. Each state has different rules regarding liposuction volume removal. In NY, it is 5000 cc's.If you have too much fat in your Lipo 360 area, this would limit how much may be taken from your arms.

Answer: How to calculate fat removal All fat is calculated independent of what part of the body it gets removed from when it comes to staying within safety limits. If your BBL requires removing up to 4 L (based on Florida regulations) of fat for an ideal outcome then you should not add arm Liposuction would rather come back to do this as a separate procedure. It’s possible the surgeons will spread out the fat removal to include all the areas but not treat each area to completion or the potential best outcome if too many areas are scheduled for one procedure. Each surgeon will have their own approach to this. All of these things should be discussed during an in person consultation.Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
