Your PTT is at a higher range than normal. Is there anything in your medication history that would explain this? It is just above normal so you should be fine for surgery but may have more bruising than normal. Your surgeon should be more liberal in the use of tumescent solution for your liposuction and grafting to reduce incidence of bleeding during the case.
Thank you for the question. To adequately answer your question we would need to know what is considered the normal range for the lab that performed the test. The normal range varies from lab to lab particularly with the PT. Because of this variability they often report the INR as a way to standardize the result and compare the results between different labs. Are you taking any medications that would be considered blood thinners? Have you had any problems with your liver? Are your labs outside of the normal range? If the answer to the preceding questions is no then you would be safe to proceed. It is reassuring that your PCP cleared you for surgery but it is perfectly fine to doublecheck.
Dear flattummy2016,Thank you for your question. As the other surgeons noted, an INR is really the reference number most of us look at when looking at bleeding tendencies for surgery. Sometimes we will also look at the PTT.It is important given the recent safety issues with BBL in Miami that you have your procedure done in a hospital setting. That is the safest place to have this type of surgery, in my opinion. Best regards,Nirmal R. without looking at the lab range on those numbers it’s impossible to tell if your values are normal. In general though they look ok. I would rediscuss with your surgeon though for clarification.Best
Thank you for your question. It is difficult to answer your question without examining you in reference to BBL. Your PT/PTT report does not have INR which is a better indicator. It is best to discuss with your board certified plastic surgeon. Good luck.
Thank you for your question! It is difficult to answer your question without any photos. I recommend that you consult with a board certified plastic surgeon to discuss your options! Keep in mind that not every surgeon produces the same results, so I advise you to carefully examine your surgeons before and after photos to ensure that you are booking with someone who can produce results that will make you happy.
hello thank you for your question and provided information as well;..based in your question its difficulted evaulate your case if the question dont have a picture, its recommended to get a consultation in personal with a plastic surgeon.
We need your INR to determine whether you are a safe candidate or not. The INR should be in the 1 range; greater than 1.5 would be a definite contraindication to BBL.
in general, liposuction is a better procedure for younger patients. Issues with skin laxity tend to limit the results to some degree as people age. This is not to say you are or are not a good candidate for the procedure. It's simply a generalization. And regards to your blood tests I'm guessing the numbers you gave are for your PT and PTT not INR. The INR is a better value because it's standardized. Your PT is on the high-end of normal. Probably not enough to cancel your surgery. Personally I don't order blood tests before this procedure unless indicated because of some type of medical history. I also do this as an awake procedure without the use of general anesthesia so that changes the safety profile a bit. Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
