Is it normal for one breast to hurt more than the other? 9 days post op.

Question

Hello All! So I had silicone unders last Monday. My left breast has started hurting way worse than the right for the past 3 days or so. I am not sure what to do but when I cough left side is in a lot of pain and its not the whole boob its almost like the top part. I'm not sure if this normal or if I should go to the hospital! The pain doesn't feel like its muscular pain it feels like something is messed up, I got my surgery done in another city.... MIAMI But i am a lefty(softball player) fyi

It is not unusual for the breasts to heal at different rates. One breast may also feel different from the other. However, if this is pain is particularly uncomfortable or you are concerned, it would be best to speak to your surgeon about it for a more personalized opinion.

It is not uncommon to experience pain a few weeks after breast augmentation surgery and the sensation can exhibit more in one breast than the other. It would be best that you visit your plastic surgeon for proper assessment and intervention to lessen your discomfort, as every surgeon has different approaches in pain management.

breasts to heal at different rates after a breast augmentation. One side may
settle faster and the right/left breast may be more tender than the other.
However, as pain can be a sign of larger issues, it is important to discuss

Yes it is completely normal for one breast to heal faster than the other.  You may have heard the phrase that breasts are sisters not twins.  This infers that they may heal at different rates and may look a little different from each other.  Continue to follow your surgeon's instructions and convey any concerns.

It is very common to have more pain in one breast more then the other. But if the pain is sever worsening and you have other symptoms like sever swelling you may need to see a plastic surgeon urgently for a concern such as a hematoma. Contact your surgeon and explain your situation. It is possible you may have to go the ER in your city if you actually have a hematoma. If it is just regular post operative pain it should get better with time.
