Two consultations two separate doctors have said based off my measurements my body can handle the larger implant. i am going under muscle but wanted some other opinions. i have broader shoulders and a larger bwd wasn't told by 2nd ps first said 13.5. i want that upper pole fullness which i have pretty well already but want that larger pushing my body's proportional look without looking extremely top heavy. I do want the larger breast, just not crazy big.
Answer: Breast Augmentation and Sizes Thank you for your question. Selecting the correct implant is among the most important decisions in a successful breast augmentation procedure. There are several factors to consider and the placement of the identical implant will not produce the same results in all patients due to differences in:1. Dimensions of the breast 2. Diameter of the chest 3. Volume of the breast tissue 4. Height and weight 5. Breast shape, including ptosis and asymmetryI rely on 3 methods to advise my patients: 1. Dimensional planning 2. Gel implant sizing 3. 3-Dimensional Vectra imaging system. At the time of consultation, measurements are taken allowing for dimensional planning to select the implant which best fits the base diameter of the breast. Gel implant sizing is performed to allow you to visualize augmentation with the various sized implants. While some practices choose not to use imaging; Vectra 3-D imaging has been a very important method in my practice in selecting the correct implant size and shape as it allows you to see what you will look like following augmentation with any of the available implants. The best advice is to choose the surgeon that you feel most comfortable with who is also board certified. Best wishes, Andrew T. Lyos, MD, FACS

Answer: Implant Size and Type It is very difficult without assessing you in person to know what implant size and profile will be a good size for you. It does sound like the high profile implant would give you the look you're going for because it will give you maximum fullness and projection. Keep in mind that implant size selection not only depends on your personal preference, but it also depends on your unique measurements. There are various types of implants that can help you attain the look you are going for. A thorough consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon will allow you to communicate what your desired result is and will inform you as to what is possible to achieve your goals. We have a device called the Vectra 3D imaging system that shows you what you will look like with any implant. Our patients are very happy with the choice of implant they make when using this system. To learn more about breast augmentation, you can read “A Comprehensive Guide to Breast Augmentation."

Answer: Too big an implant? Hi SeattleChick; It's not whether you can handle going with a very large implant as this doesn't necessarily mean a nicer looking, full breast. You can still have a full breast and have a better looking breast with the correct "fit". Were the doctors that you consulted with Board Certified Plastic Surgeons? It would be helpful to know your bra size, your height and weight, just some background to get an idea of your physique. You have a nice breast shape and breast fullness in the upper pole of your breast. The nipple position on your breast looks a bit low; too wide an implant means it might be too high too and make the nipples look even lower; as implants get larger in any style, such as high profile in your case, they get wider so the fit is the key. It is hard to give an opinion from a photo. I would need to do a consultation and directly take measurements and discuss your goals and lifestyle is helpful. Our Vectra 3D imaging systems is a powerful way to look at different sizes and types of implants in your body that is very helpful in communicating your desires and what will give you the best results.

Answer: Size The implant selection should be based on a combination of your desired size, soft tissue dynamics, breast base diameter and skin elasticity. I recommend an in-office examination as well as a detailed discussion with a surgeon who you are comfortable with. Finally, make sure your surgeon is a Double-Board Certified Plastic Surgeon certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS), a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgery (ASPS) and the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS).Best,Dr. DesaiBeverly Hills Institute for Aesthetic Plastic SurgeryHarvard Educated, Beverly Hills & Miami Beach TrainedDouble Board-Certified Beverly Hills Plastic Surgeon
