I'm interested in fixing my tuberous breasts, but am not comfortable with implants, is it possible to do without?

You can benefit from breast implants, you appear to be too thin for a fat graft, an implant augmentation will provide the volume you desire. A board certified plastic surgeon will be able to guide you to the correct size implant for your measurements and desires. Measurements of the chest wall and breast imprint width as well as knowledge of all breast implant sizes and profiles should make this process easy. Try on a profile bra with various saline and silicone cc sizers your PS recommends under a tailored blouse, tank top, bikini, workout clothes, and other garments you typically wear so that you have the best idea of whether the garments fit as desired with the implant selected. Schedule an appointmetn with a BCPS for proper evaluation.

Hello and thank you for your question. Tuberous breast deformity comes in all shapes and forms and at times can be treated with breast lift or areolar reduction without implants. You don't seem to have classic tuberous deformity, perhaps some mammary hypoplasia and areolar herniation on one side. In your case, I believe you will have the best result with a breast augmentation using implant. Placement of an implant in conjunction with scoring of lower pole will expand your breasts and give you a nice shape. Areolar reduction can also be done. I would consult with a qualified plastic surgeon for a formal evaluation. Thank you for your question. Based in your question and the pictures you showed, you are a great candidate for a breast augmentation, I totally recommend you implants since you`re really skinny and you dont have enough fat to make the transfer. Tuberous breasts are one of the most challenging breast shapes to correct. The implant size and shape can be determined by breast measurements during consultation. As you mentioned, you do need releasing cuts under your breast tissue to open up the breast to become less coney shape. There is a good possibility that your areola need to be downsized which also provides the lift. Consult a board certified plastic surgeon. Best of lucks :)

HiIt really depends on the size and look that you are trying to achieve.  You are very slim and dont have much fat for fat grafting so this would only give you a very modest increase in size.  You would get a very nice result from an implant.  The best results from an areolar reduction are if it is done after the augmentation however it is commonly done at the same time.RegardsDamien

Tuberous breast is not, technically speaking, a "yes" or "no" question. There can be different points on the continuum. The typical hallmarks include a high, tight fold with "puffy" or distended areola, minimal breast tissue and potentially herniation of the breast tissue through a tightened ring thus the "tuberous" label. It is a congenital deformity which usually manifests at puberty. To what degree it manifests will vary from one patient to the next.
Treatment of tuberous breasts varies depending on the degree of the breast architectural distortion. Surgical correction typically involves:
-areolar reduction
-submuscular augmentation
-release of constricted breast tissue
All of these techniques work in concert to correct the tuberous deformation of the breast.
Based on your photos, you demonstrate some mild features of a classically "tuberous" breast. You would benefit from some of the techniques described above. The stretching force of an implant is equally as important as release in correction of the shape abnormality. Without this distending force, release will not be nearly as effective. Alternatively, fat transfer could be used to replace the volumetric distending force of an implant. However, fat is not nearly as reliable for expansion as an implant (even a smaller one).That being said, if your major concern is areolar in nature, a periareolar mastopexy alone is a reasonable options.

Although a precise treatment plan or recommendation can only be made after an in person consultation, one can definitely have a correction of areolar puffiness and a reduction of the diameter of the areolae without undergoing a breast augmentation. Consulting with an experienced board certified plastic surgeon in whom you have confidence is your best next step. Don't be reluctant to consider a second opinion if you are unsure after your first consultation. And please remember that your breast size will essentially remain the same after surgery, and may actually be even slightly smaller since the correction of the areolae can make your breasts a bit "tighter". Your plastic surgeon can review all of your options and answer any and all questions you may have. Best of luck to you. 

Your breasts are only mildly tuberous but they won’t look good unless there is some volume added. If you don’t want implants you could always get fat transfer, although I prefer implants. 

Thank you for the photos.  Implants are not necessary unless you want to add more size/volume to your breasts.  Otherwise to fix the areola, you would need a donut mastopexy to make the size of the areola smaller and flatten the protrusion of the nipple/areola.Hope that helps.

tuberous breasts are not simply small or underdeveloped breasts. The appearance of the breast can range from mild to severe, and typical traits include: enlarged, puffy areola, rather wide spacing between the breasts, very little breast tissue, sagging, higher than normal inferior breast fold, and narrow base at the chest wall.
Tuberous breasts can rarely be corrected without implants or at least a small one. The breast needs to be scored radially from the inside to expand it. If you don't place an implant behind the radial scoring it will fall back to its original state. You could theoretically remove the implant at a later day and graft with fat but that would be a separate surgery.
