I’m 5’7 and 180lb, breasts have been huge since puberty started I was a DDD in middle school. I’m 35 and would like to reduce them as much as possible and still look nice in clothing. The breasts aren’t overly saggy just heavy and causing pain in my back.

Answer: Should be Feasible In general, reducing your breasts to a DD range should be feasible. With very large breasts, as you are describing, there is generally a limit as to how small your surgeon can make your breasts. However, a DD range is very reasonable. Typically, when women are looking to go to a small C or B cup from very large breasts, I caution them that I will not be able to get them to a size that they may be comfortable with. However, it sees like you have reasonable expectations and should be happy with the results of your procedure.

Answer: Breast Reduction Thank you for your question. Without photos or an in-person examination, it is difficult to say how much your breasts can be reduced. I recommend meeting with a board certified plastic surgeon to discuss your goals and options. Based on a calculation called body surface area, they should be able to calculate the grams of breast tissue indicated by insurance that need to be removed. In my opinion, this may be an appropriate expectation when undergoing this procedure.

Answer: Breast reduction I encourage you to begin by visiting a board certified plastic surgeon near you for a consultation. During this meeting you'll learn more about the procedure and you will discuss the amount of tissue that is recommended to be removed to get you to a size that fits with your body and your goals. Typically women reduce their volume by multiple cup sizes and are very pleased with the results!

Answer: Would going from a 38H/I to a DD be something that would look nice or would that to be too much? Hi, Thank you for the question. Based on what you are describing, it does sound that you have large/heavy breasts causing physical symptoms, and breast reduction may be an option for you. However, it is difficult to tell without seeing the photos and/or in person consultation. During breast reduction surgery, excess breast tissue is removed, the breast is lifted and nipple/areola is typically made smaller. It is easiest to think of breast reduction as including the breast lift. Schnur Sliding Scale is a scale used by many insurance companies as a guideline for how much breast tissue should be removed in order to improve your physical symptoms. In addition, most insurances in order to approve the surgery, will require for 2-3 letters of medical necessity (from your chiropractor, primary doctor, OBGYN, Dermatologist, etc) demonstrating that your physical symptoms due to large breasts are not improving with conservative management. The goal of breast reduction surgery it to make the breasts smaller and lifted, but also proportionate with the rest of your body. It is reasonable to to expect C/D cup breast size after the breast reduction surgery. I suggest that you seek an in person consultation with a Board-Certified Plastic Surgeon specializing in Breast Reduction surgeries to further discuss your options, specific techniques, concerns and expectations. Make sure you specifically look at before and after pictures of real patients who have had this surgery performed by your surgeon and evaluate their results. I hope this helps.Best regards, Dr. Karanetz Dr. Irena KaranetzBreast Fellowship-TrainedBoard Certified Plastic Surgeon
