Is it dangerous to have BBL at your maximum BMI?

At my practice, the max BMI limit for a Brazilian butt lift (BBL) is 35. In addition, you would need to be in good health and cleared for surgery.

Ideally, you would like your BMI to be less than 30, however, this decision is individualized based on your overall health status and what procedure you are having among others. Generally speaking, you want to reach your goal weight before you consider a BBL, otherwise your results will be suboptimal if you continue to lose weight after the surgery. If you are considering a surgery, I would suggest you to consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations.

Overall medical health and suitability of the procedure are just as important  as the BMI.  BMI (body mass index) should be under 35 and closer to 30 for best results and reduction of complications. It is best to be within 10 pounds of your weight goal for three months prior to the BBL.

A healthy BMI prior to cosmetic surgery not only makes a good surgery result more likely but it also further minimizes the already quite low risk that is always associated with anesthesia and with any surgical procedure.
Your BMI needs to be 33 or less, for you to be considered a good candidate for plastic surgery.

BMI (body mass index equals weight in kg / square
of height in meters) is one criterion to determine the anticipated results of a cosmetic
surgery. You can find BMI calculators on the internet. If your BMI is > 30,
the cosmetic result will not be optimal. If your BMI is > 35, your operative
risk will rise. In our practice we recommend a BMI of < 30. 
We recommend that you be at a healthy comfortable stable body weight at the time of surgery. The cosmetic effect improves with lower BMIs. 
We recommend a regimen of diet and exercise to reach a safe and healthy body weight. If not achievable, one may consider a bariatric procedure such as a gastric sleeve to achieve dramatic weight loss.

An elevated BMI will put you at higher risk for complications no matter what the surgical procedure you’re undergoing. There’s also a correlation between BMI and decreased satisfaction amongst liposuction patients documented in our plastic surgery literature. It’s important for your own health and also the optimization of your results to get your BMI into an appropriate place.
