I'm 24 yr old mother of 2. My weight has been up and down since I had cancer back in 07. This last year I went from 213lbs to 166lbs. Now my breast make my neck heart the have a lil order underneath sometimes. I'm currently a 42D I'm 4"11 it feels like their is no tissue at the top of the breast. I have a layer of skin that comes down near my vag. I have to tuck it in my pants. I currently have 1199 SEIU health insurance will they cover a breast lift and a panniculectomy? How do I go about it?

Answer: Will 1199 SEIU insurance cover Breast lift & Panniculectomy? Thank you for your question and photographs, and congratulations on your impressive weight loss! In order to best answer your questions, I would recommend you see a board certified plastic surgeon for an in-person consultation; additionally I would contact your health insurance company to ask whether they cover these procedures and the criteria needed to qualify. In conjunction with your plastic surgeon, this insurance information would let you know if surgery is an option. As far as your pictures, because your breast size is causing such issues to your neck, you may benefit from a breast reduction (which will give you a beast lift at the same time) which may be covered by insurance, whereas a breast lift often is not. I can see the excess skin of your abdomen as well, but it may prove difficult to get this covered by insurance, as it is considered "small" by panniculectomy standards. Removal of this tissue may better be through an abdominoplasty, but that is a cosmetic operation and not covered by insurance. Hope this helps.

Answer: Insurance coverage It is highly unlikely that your insurance will cover either of the procedures. On a rare occasion they may cover the panniculectomy portion -- but for they the reimbursement is so low that it hardly covers the doctors expenses. These two procedures are usually considered cosmetic, thus you need to self pay if you want them.
