Hello I am almost 3 weeks post op full anchor lift and I am just wondering if it is safe for me to start wearing an underwire bra? Even for just a few hours a day. The sports bras just make me look so coney. My doctor never said how long and I don't know if there is a standard on when it is safe to do so. So far I am healing great no complications. Thank you?
Answer: When is it safe to wear underwire after an anchor lift? Congratulations on having undergone the breast lifting procedures; I am glad to hear that you are doing well. There is no “standard” when it comes to the use of specific bras or garments after breast surgery. In other words, different plastic surgeons may have different practices when it comes to postoperative dressings/bras. Therefore, best to check with your plastic surgeon. For example, in my practice, patients wake up with a surgical bra in place. This surgical bra, although not attractive, is supportive and used for about one month after surgery (some of my patients have been known to burn the bra ASAP). Then, patients transition to a soft sports bra. Wired bras are used when breast implants have reached their “final position” and patients have full sensation along the breast skin. Best wishes.

Answer: Underwire bra and breast lift After surgery, I advise patients to wear a sports bra for up to two months to control the swelling and ensure proper healing. I would recommend speaking with your surgeon prior to wearing an underwire bra at this point in time.

Answer: Underwire bra Thank you for your question. I recommend that my patients not wear an underwire bra for six weeks after their breast lift surgeries. It would be best that you discuss this with your operating surgeon as the protocol varies amongst surgeons. All the best,Dr. ResultsMiami, FL

Answer: Underwire bra I usually have patients wait a minimum of 6 weeks, or until the incisions have healed well, or until sensation returns. Each surgeon is different.
