Will rhinoplasty help to fix a long midface? (Photo)

Hi. I have always felt that I’ve had a long midface and I’m not sure if it’s mainly due to my nose, or what other procedures could be done to help correct it. I’m 34 and am starting to lose volume in my face, and I’m feeling like these issues are starting to become more prominent. Any advice would be greatly appreciated

A rhinoplasty would improve the shape of your nose, like addressing tip width, and excess columellar hang, as well as reducing slight overprojection.  This along with a chin implant may make your face more balanced.

A chin that appears too small compared to your other facial features can make your nose appear larger and amplify sagging skin on the neck and jawline. You may also benefit from dermal filler injections or a facial fat transfer to restore lost volume and achieve a supple, youthful-looking result. A Rhinoplasty will help reshape the nose which will help bring your nose back into balance and in accordance with the rest of your face. However, this will not make a big difference between the dimensions in the mid face when it comes to comparing it with the lower face. In this case, I would consider other things such a Fat Injections to the lower face and chin area to give a wider appearance, which you can even extend to the mid face to give it a more circular shape.

A Reduction Rhinoplasty would be beneficial, however, which would take away from the emphasis of the mid face that is the dominant part, in terms of seeing your face as an aesthetic unit in the face.

Hello, hope you are well. Here are a few things to consider. Indeed, your nose does have a long appearance due to the positions of the radix and tip. A well-designed and executed rhinoplasty can alter these relationships (as well as addressing the tip shape and dorsal hump) with the result being a nose that matches your facial proportions significantly better. At the same time, you may consider a modest chin implant and chin (submental) liposuction to bring the lower third of the face into balance. Finally, I would even explore the option of cheek implants (for projection, not width) to volumize the midface. Among these things, rhinoplasty would have the greatest positive impact on your facial proportions to bring out the natural beauty of your eyes and lips.

Hello! Thank you for your question. As far as I can see from your photos you have very strong hump on your nose bridge and your tip is over projected for your face. Also your chin is behind your face. That problems might be the reason the long mid face. I recommend you chin implant and rhinoplasty for improve your side face projection. Based on your photos, you appear to have a relatively short lower 1/3 of your face and a reclusive chin appearance on profile. Depending on your examination, chin augmentation with an implant may result in a more proportional facial appearance on front view and a more balanced profile view as well. Based on your photos, you are a good candidate for rhinoplasty. The nose appears a bit long in length, and if it is shortened, it can change the facial aesthetic to be a bit shorted as well. Be sure to see a rhinoplasty specialist that can also do computer imaging for consultation.
