I live alone and my throat feels like it could swell up and close causing anxiety that I won't be able to breathe . Which seems like I am swallowing more than normal . Maybe just more aware of the feeling that it is swollen . Is the numbness causing the swelling feeling. Shouldn't the numbness be disapated by now ?
Answer: Kybella swelling? Thank you for this question. Swelling and numbness is normal. Some patients also rarely report difficulty swallowing. I suggest you speak with your injector and have an examination to be sure things are healing normally.Best wishes, Dr. ALDO

Answer: Neck Swelling after Kybella Hi there Hannah,Sorry your experience is more uncomfortable than you had hoped. Things do get better over time.Swelling that you can see and feel happens in all people undergoing Kybella injections in the sub mental area. The degree of swelling can't always be predicted but may be related to the amount of Kybella needed, the quality of the skin and whether or not a vessel was inadvertently punctured causing a local bruise.Though some amount of swelling or numbness can persist up to 6 months after your final treatment, they tend to subside week by week (you won't be feeling like this in January).Because you are expressing anxiety and have concerns about your swallowing and airway, I would reach out to your practitioner to be seen right away. They will want to hear from you. After you have clarified with your treatment team you could consider wearing a compression garment at night. This a can help accelerate a reduction in neck swelling.Take care.Dr Nodwell

Answer: The numbness can be disturbing and is part of the sensation of swallowing difficulty. Unfortunately, this can last a couple of months. It is for this reason, you might consider finishing you neck work with a neck liposuction. This is a very comfortable minimally invasive surgical procedure that can be done with just local anesthesia and can accomplish with a week of healing a result that could take 6 months of Kybella treatment to accomplish.

Answer: Kybella swelling Swelling in the neck region is usually mild, but universal after Kybella injection. Sometimes the swelling can give the sensation of difficulty swallowing. This is especially common if you have any pre-existing difficulty swallowing, and should be discussed at your pre-procedural evaluation To ensure you are receiving the highest level of care, seek out a modernly trained, new-school dermatologic surgeon, oculoplastic surgeon, facial plastic surgeon or plastic surgeon who is board certified and fellowship trained in one of these "core four" cosmetic specialties.
