Will harvesting of conchal cartilage from my ears affect hearing in any way, even if small?

Interesting. Long ago I came across an article by someone I know. I don't remember the details but I think the hearing loss was minimal. I am giving the reference here. Take a look and do your research.

Yes, your ear will feel softer in some areas (in the bowl part typically). It is not something most people would notice or care about. And, yes, this area is to bounce sound. But, it is extremely unlikely that it would create any kind of noticeable hearing change. If you wear headphones for your work then the sound is coming straight into the ear canal and your cartilage graft really shouldn't have much impact.

We have not used conchal cartilage from both ears, but generally, ears heal well after harvest. And this may be a reasonable alternative for nasal reconstruction when there is no available septal cartilage. Hope this helps! Dr Joseph
