I'd finally decided to have nj. However, I read an article about a case that happened in my town. A girl with no prior illnesses did a nj. Minutes after she woke up from anesthesia she fell into comma for 6 months! Paralyzed. No memory! 1year passed and she cant move. Id like to know if this in any way relates to rhinoor anesthesia? Here in my country docs dont understand what wnt wrong. Please, explain what couldbe the reason for such a reaction?
Answer: Rhinoplasty - risks Hello Ann, For sure, having an elective procedure makes one feel uneasy. Most media capitalize on the bad results and outcomes. In reality, if one is healthy, their surgery should go as planned. To avoid such unexpected outcomes, I have my patient's primary care doctor do a history and physical exam. My focus is your nasal change. I cannot help answer your questions about the anesthesia complication. This is truly unfortunate. However, it is not the normal anesthesia result. For sure, details are missing to answer why this occurred. Hope this helps. Sincerely, Dr. K

Answer: Rhinoplasty and anesthesia Rhinoplasty can be done under IV sedation or general anesthesia. Both are safe, but in rare cases, complications can occur. You have an opportunity to speak to the anesthesiologist to alleviate your fears, and I would recommend you do that. Without knowing the history of the patient you're asking about, we would have no way of knowing why she had a reaction like that. Be well!

Answer: Anesthesia and rhinoplasty The requirements for successful outcomes requires that you feel nothing, and are unaware of the procedure while at the same time ensuring that you will have a clear airway and good oxygen supply to your body during the procedure. General anesthetics vary greatly. We have found total intravenous anesthesia (propofol and ketamine) with airway protection using a laryngeal mask airway from a board certified anesthesiologist, coupled with adequate placement of local anesthesia by a skillful surgeon to be the safest, most reliable technique with the shortest recovery time. Take some time to find out who exactly will be providing anesthesia and what techniques will be used to keep you out of harms way.

Answer: Rhinoplasty with anesthesia dangerous? There are risks associated with every operation and with every anesthetic. Some are serious, but these are extremely rare. It is far more dangerous to drive a car, than to get put to sleep by a board certified anesthesiologist. Not enough information to really know what happened to the girl, so anything I say is speculation and likely to scare you further. That said, I have seen a case in my residency where the separation of the roof of the nose and the brain was disrupted by surgery of the septum and this tore one of the arteries than supply the brain and this patient woke up in a coma. There are techniques that are employed with this type of operation to prevent this from ever happening. There is a certain amount of stress that your body goes through with anesthesia and undiagnosed issues can be exposed due to this stress. If you are healthy and take good care of yourself, it is extremely unlikely that you will have any issues with the surgery or the anesthetic. Qualified doctors in certified facilities is key. Get to a point of satisfaction with your surgeon and discuss your fears. You need to be in the best state of mind you can achieve prior to your surgery. Don't let unrealistic fears block your road to happiness.

Answer: Is rhinoplasty or anesthesia dangerous? In the United States, anesthesia is very safe today when administered by a board-certified physician anesthesiologist. We also perform all of our rhinoplasty procedures in a Medicare certified and state licensed outpatient surgery center for patient safety and comfort. Anesthesia complications are very rare.
