Question

What would be the best HA filler? Restylane Refyne or Defyne? for the marionnette lines and volume loss in my lower face? Its also a very active area, & I have used Perlane in the past and it lasted a max of 4-6months

Thank you for your question! Restylane Defyne and Restylane Refyne both are great HA fillers for the nasolabial folds and marionette lines due to their flexibility. Generally, we use Defyne for deep folds and Refyne for moderately deep folds and lines around the mouth. Based on your photos, both products may provide you with great results. The best way to decide which filler and how much to use would be to have a consultation with an experienced injector.

The question of which product to use on your lines should be left to your injector and how deep your lines are.  Looking at your picture,I would chose Restalyne Defyne.  One syringe per side should be a great start for you and as weeks pass it can be better assessed if  you need more product for full correction.The bottom line is that both products are very nice fillers.  Hope this is helpful.

Both belong to the Restylane family of hylaronic acid injectable dermal fillers.  Restylane Refyne was approved for mid-to-deep injection into the facial tissue for the correction of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds.  Restylane Defyne is approved for the correction of moderate to severe deep facial facial wrinkles and folds. 
Both of these gel fillers is made with a flexible hyaluronic acid filler which uses XpresHAn Technology – creating gels that offer a wide range of flexibility and support.  This gel moves and molds with your natural movement and then returns to its natural shape – so it is perfect for the areas of the face where there is a lot of movement such as the nasolabial folds and laugh lines around the mouth. They provide excellent results for animated areas of the face where we want to maintain natural movements and expressions.
Both of these fillers last up to 12 months compared to regular Restylane which lasts approximately 6-9 months.

defyne us a 'heftier' filler for deeper folds like marionettes - and this has now become my go to for treating these areas. refyne works beautifully in more superficial areas. best option would be to be examined by your injector and discuss what you are trying to achieve and what might work best for you.

I think both will do but probably Defyne is somewhat better. If there is more volume loss, such as yours, Defyne is a better choice. Injection into the dermis with serial puncture technique has given me great longevity. I think this technique gives collagen stimulation by stretching the fibroblasts. I have seen durations of over a year. It will take 3-4 syringes for a complete correction in this area. I am the leading trainer for Galderma with this product and the 6th largest user in the country of Refyne/Defyne.
