I am almost 6 weeks post tummy Tuck with no lipo. My tummy is flat but my hips are way too big. My clothes don’t fit and I’m very disappointed the Dr didn’t do lipo on hips and flanks. I specifically asked about the need for lipo and he said he didn’t think I needed it. I don’t like this look at all. I’m very tiny 5’6 113 lbs and I feel like all I see are hips now. How do I go out resolving this issue? Do I have dog ear as well? I see my PS in 2 weeks
Answer: Wide hips after tummy tuck You are very early in your recovery from your tummy tuck procedure. It will take 4-6 months to see your final shape and contour. At that time if there is some excess fat it can be liposuctioned, if there is some excess skin a hip lift can be done (an extension of your tummy tuck scar to incorporate loose skin over the hip area). Run your concerns by your plastic surgeon and be patient as best you can. I hope this helps.Thomas Taylor, MD, FACS

Answer: Too early to tell Diamond. Sorry you are having these concerns, and I usually perform liposuction of the hips and flanks when needed, in conjunction with a standard tummy tuck. However, It is still quite early in your postoperative journey to tell if liposuction of your hips and flanks will be needed because there is still residual swelling only six weeks out. I do not see signs of dog ears either. Try to stay patient and follow up with your plastic surgeon. Good luck.

Answer: Tummy tuck results Dear Diamondsandturquoise,I understand your concern and it is quite normal to be concerned about the outcome following a tummy tuck surgery. However, you are still in the very early stages of the healing process.Your will need to be patient at this moment and follow what your surgeon has instructed you to do post operatively. At the early stage of the healing process, the tissues are still swollen. Once the swelling subsides you will be able to see the final result of your surgery.Daniel Barrett, MD Certified, American Board of Plastic Surgery Member, American Society of Plastic Surgery Member, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery

Answer: Your surgeon was using his best judgment about whether to do your liposuction or not... so I would have to speculate you don't have much fat on you. Still, if there is a small bump a the ends of your incision, an exam would be needed to determine if your problem is one of skin or fat or both. That would dictate what can be done to give yourself the best outcome possible and your surgeon should be able to tell you that once you are completely healed. At least your surgeon was not interested in simply doing as many procedures on you so know your surgeon is looking out for your best interests.

Answer: Tummy tuck post- op Hello dear, thank you for your question! It's too soon to see the final results of your surgery, i'll recommend for you to wait at least 3 month after your surgery and than get your evaluation to see if you really need a liposuction for your hipsteres. As i can see by your photos you don't have dog ears. Good luck!
